Re: 2014 Forumshire Awards planning
I am away for 3 months but will have intermittent wifi. I assume tomorrow is too soon... after that I expect to be out of comms range for 5 days and then back at this hotel for 2 days again.
Re: 2014 Forumshire Awards planning
The voting period should be at least a week, preferably two. Hopefully that will be long enough that you'll get a chance to vote at some point in between your excursions.
Re: 2014 Forumshire Awards planning
5 days-right- assuming Scotland doesnt blow away by then all the nominees will be up by the time Lance gets back to civilization. So thats the 15th.
Then we can have a week of voting (I think thats long enough given they are already late)
As per last year Queen Tin will present the Movie category results first, then the following night I will present the Forum awards.

First I was at a conference, then on the way back my hard drive crashed. On a work computer during the weekend, may be a few days before I'm back to regular posting speed.

At least I've gotten good about backups. Nothing lost, just delayed. Am currently making a backup of the backup, one to stay at home and one to stay at work. (I use a single laptop for both.) I've realized anything less is irresponsible.

Re: 2014 Forumshire Awards planning
I just got news that they think they can restore everything, and at a very reasonable price too. Only problem is, may take until friday. Stealing time off work computers until then.

I should probably back up my computer, especially since the battery is on its last legs.

Re: 2014 Forumshire Awards planning
Might be off the grid again for a little while. Not sure when I will next have access to wi-fi (maybe tomorrow.... maybe 3 weeks).
Assuming Petty having some issues meaning not getting to the internet to do this... hopefully not health related!
Catch you all whenever it is and hope awards goes well if I miss them.

Given how cheap external hard drives have become, and the nice backup software available to make it easy, it's downright silly not to be backed up every week at least. This latest event scared me enough I went and bought a second drive to keep in another location from the first.
Some of these new drives come with bluetooth, so the machines can be set to back up automatically whenever you are in the same room. Might be worth the extra money for peace of mind.

I get backed up every week, a good dose of syrup of figs normally does the trick.
