You very nearly did!

But whats with the reluctance to be Mayor? Its a cushy number, title, roomy hole with hardly any seepage. What more do you want? Mad

We can't have a recount done by one person, the same person who did the counting in the first place! That's no recount, we need the supervision of an unbiased third party, presence of election judges and government officials, and representatives from each campaign. Mad

Ways to get elected mayor in Forumshire:

1. Publicly announce you don't want to get elected.

2. Don't mention, campaign or participate in the election build-up with a single word.

There's either something very right or very wrong with Forumshire politics. Razz

Yep, I actually put out several campaign speeches to keep me as far away from the hot-seat as possible.

While I agree that not wanting an office is generally a point in a candidate's favor, bungo could theoretically deny the people of Forumshire their democratic choice by refusing to perform his mayoral duties, in which case the office of Mayor would pass to the second place candidate, or else to the highest ranked candidate willing to perform the meager duties of the job.

I'll accept the title of Mayor as long as I don't actually have to do anything.

Also, how long is my term?

Kafria's term went on for years (don't remember her doing anything), and Tin's tenure, though not an elective office, has never ended.

I do have to say, "Bungo Baggins" is a good name for the Mayor of Forumshire.

Now practice acting older and pompous.

Kafria did a bit of Mayor-y things at first, but she hasn't been active for a while.  The idea of having new elections came up at least a year ago, but at this point it's been about three years since the last election.  The role of the position is largely left up to the person who holds it though.  I'd love to see a Mayor who tries to come up with stuff for a Mayor to do, sorta like Queen Tin (who holds her office for life, naturally), but it's up to the people's choice to decide how to represent their constituents.
