Petty's Purist LotR Edits [4]

Slight change of plan.
I am uploading 2 versions of TH.
A standard 480 version and the full HD version.
The reasoning being those with poor internet, or who just want to try it first before downloading the much bigger HD version have an alternative (all be it a lower quality alternative).

The HD version is 8.86 gig.
The standard version 812MB.

I need you to send me the link when you get time petty. But first will it work on a android device. I only have my Samsung tablet here at the hospital. Thank god for free wifi here. Back is sore as hell but that's to be expected right now

Well, that's better than the old style back surgery where you were left with your eyes crossed in painful consternation trying to figure out if they plastered some kind of space alien onto your back, voraciously sucking away.

I dont use android myself but if it plays mp4 files (or avi for the lower quality version) it you should be fine.

It will probably play mp4 (apple devices do, so I can't imagine android devices not), but I'm pretty sure you'll need a computer to download it first (though I could be wrong, of course). Do you need winrar, petty, or is it ready to play when you've downloaded it?

Technically I could upload the HD version as a single file too but looking like I will have to break it up into 9 files of roughly a gig just for ease of uploading, as the standard version at 812MB has, ridiculously and crabbit inducingly, taken from 11am this morning to now and its still only at 96% uploaded- so at that rate of upload to get the 8gig file on will take me about 3-4 days of non-stop uploading!
So breaking up into seperate winrar files seems the only sensible way to do it.

Though do dl the standard version Ringo as I would like your thoughts on the changes anyway and its going to be the weekend probably before the HD version is fully up.


Sorry Figg- been really busy finishing the purist edits and got another vid I am working on for someone else, got a NotP in mid production thats already late and stared working on stuff for this years awards.
So dont expect anything soon.

Might be I'll wait for the HD version anyway, Petty. I've got an exam coming up on Thursday, which means I'll be reading for the rest of today and tomorrow, and then I've got work + possibly beer on Friday, definitely some beer on Saturday. So if you think the HD version might be up this weekend or early next week I'll just wait. I can't promise any helpful feedback, though. I had a great time watching your LotR edits, taking notes and comparing, noticing all the differences and changes you had made. I won't be able to do that this time because, I think, because I haven't watched either of the films (teatrical versions) more than once. LotR on the other hand, I knew by heart. I'll give it a go anyway, and I look forward to a new take on TH (god knows it's needed), and perhaps it all comes back to me while I'm watching the edits   (or , not sure if I really want it all to come back )

I am hoping to have the HD version up for the weekend- Eru knows though with the slow rate of uploading.

Obviously I am keen for feedback as soon as folk can watch but if you haven't the time you haven't the time.

I dont think notes are needed this time, so much as a general feeling of if it works or not as a film.
There are some bits I am particularly keen on feedback on, they should be obvious bits as strictly speaking they dont belong in a purist edit of TH and I am in two minds if they are necessary of wanted.

So anyone who just wants to watch but doesnt want or know how to download stuff (yeah thats you Figg!) just send me your email in a pm and I can get you a link to watch it.

Uhm, I can actually stream the whole thing from your skydrive now, petty, no need to download it anymore. Is this some Windows 8 thing? Could anyone else check? Should make it alot easier for people to watch it when there's no need to download and no risk whatsoever.

Excellent Ringdrotten- I was hoping that would be the case.
Seems to be part of their revamp when they upped the limit from 2gig to 10.
Im using win7 so hopefully its available for everyone to watch that way.

That's pretty awesome. You've got some new versions of the LotR edits to upload as well, if I recall correctly? Would be great to have all of those streamable too, people could finally watch them as easily as a youtube vid (when you get the time, of course, I realise these uploads take their time).

I plan to reupload the latest edit of book1 after TH HD version. So not until next week most likely.

Just noticed when comparing the purist edit against the Pj cut, that Bilbo is running from his front door and the adventure underway at 26 minutes in for the purist edit.
You have to wait until 43 minute to get to the same point in PJ's.

And the purist cut is not missing a bit of Bilbo's story from the book.

You just lose a lot of stuff about dwarves you don't need to know and a lot of old Bilbo and not so young Frodo.
If PJ had just cut the crap out he could have pleased everyone, those who praised the beginning of AUJ for keeping a lot of the book in, and those who complained the opening was too long and boring and drawn out.
