btw, shouldn't this be in the Hobbit thread? Oh well, what's done is done. No doubt all of forumshire will burn multiple lives in hell for all the thread hopping we've promulgated.

Discord has a voice channel already. Eldy set it all up for us, so we might as well use it?

Zoom has faces, but we may not be ready for that. Plus if watching on computers all you'll see is faces staring back at you.

How do find each other on this discord thingie? On meeting apps like Zoom you can send around an invitation. Can we do that here? Or do we have to hunt up everyone's name? Mine will be halfwise.

Forest has used it, but that was for a one-on-one. I still think Zoom is a good option.

You are both in the right neighborhood. For chatting, just find the voice channel called "general", and allow discord to use your mic.

But you see, you have to be more specific and assume we know nothing.  Here's how to do it:

"- Find the Discord app thingimugig and push it.
- after the window pops up, look for the green totally unlabelled round button on the left (yes, I realize it's not obviously a button because the tech turd-brains decided a decade ago that everything should look flat rather than real,  but nontheless the greenish round thing is a button).  Push it.
- The greenish round thing turns squarish (but not totally), and next to it you'll find a menu.  On that menu is something that says "general".  Click on that.
- Now look down to the far left and see that the thing that looks like a flat unrealistic microphone (I REALLY detest the tech turd-brains of a decade ago) and make sure there's no red bar through it.  if there is, push the damn thing to make it go away.  I mean push it by using the mouse then clicking.
- then look clear over on the right and see if people you recognize are online.  "Online" means a) the name is listed and not grayed out  b) it says "online" BELOW the name.  The idiots put the labels equally spaced so above and below look the same.  (I freaking HATE these tech-turd idiots.) "

Anyway, that's just a suggestion for how to explain to someone how to use a new app.

I might just add that to the FAQ.

The main hurdle was realizing I had to push that totally unlabelled green thing. It was just looking decorative. Stupid-ass design. This is all Jonathon Ive's fault that things that should look like they need to be pushed, don't. What a twit.
