I did an all three EEs in one day marathon last summer and it was definitely an experience, but I actually think that watching the films over a weekend (FOTR on Friday evening, TTT on Saturday evening, ROTK on Sunday) is my preferred experience since it gives me time to decompress and more fully appreciate each individual film as well as the overall whole. Haven't done that in a while but it's my plan for the next time I watch the trilogy, though that's probably still a year or two off.
