Re: DOS Soundtrack Mystery
I can't say that I care much for the music associated with Smaug, though. Mostly because I find that it's too similar to the Mordor themes. Sure, Shore and Jackson want an eastern sound to it (and the use of the gamelans is really cool) but does he have to keep rehashing the Freygish scale?

Re: DOS Soundtrack Mystery
I still havent listened to the soundtrack yet, as to be honest nothing in the film sttod out to me. In fact the oly bit of music that made enough of a concious impresion fr me t notice it was the music during the 'trippy' Mirkwood scene (no idea what its called) which I thought sounded like half a good theme for Mirkwood.

Yeah, I also like "Girion, Lord of Dale" very much! The themes Shore used for Lake-town are my favourite ones in DOS!
2:35 !
Well, the music he used for Smaug wasn't really catchy so I had to listen to it a few times before I could warm up with it, but I still think that it is a great piece of work!
But at the moment I absolutely can't recall what it sounds like... I'll have to listen to it again.

Re: DOS Soundtrack Mystery
Did you ever realize that Shore has used one of the Dwarves' themes already in TTT?
Listen to this: from 5:00 to 6:20:
Shore later used many elements of this song in "An unexpected party" (AUJ)
Actually I have no idea where this music might be in TTT, but I'm curious to find out when I watch it the next time
