No, what you eat are silly little crepes, and try to tell the world you are eating pancakes. Takes about six of them to match the heft of a true pancake.

No, pancakes are pancakes. American pancakes are actually svele, and it's silly to eat them for breakfast. The ferries around here always had svele in the cafeteria and you'd usually buy one and cup of coffee. They are folded in half with butter and jam, sugar, or sweet brown cheese on the inside. This makes it a nice portable snack.

Because our pizza isn't a frozen puck thrown in an anemic home oven. Extremely Crabbit

There's a newish Scottish style pub in my neighborhood.  They offer deep fried pizza.  I haven't managed to overcome my moral outrage sufficiently to give it a try.  :drum:  But I feel their veggie based Haggis and "meat pie" would have similar effects on any true Scotsmen who wandered in.  Even I am offended by vegetarian meat pie!

The two posts above contains crimes against food.  The Forumshire adminship does not support such behaviour.

I wasn't supporting either one of those crimes!  I was registering my complaints!

(I feel Petty would probably be outraged by the veggie haggis for a total of 3 food crimes, but as I feel haggis is born an outrage, veggifying it actually tames the offense.)

I did try haggis in Edinburgh. Served in two neat almond shaped sleek... lumps, and I have a feeling that is not what it looks like at home. Taste and texture reminded me of the sausages Finrod and his dad makes, only a bit slimier.

Sadly we never found deep fried mars bars. Luckily we never saw deep fried pizza either.

Since by export laws (or lack of demand) I can't try bucky, I may have to try deep fried pizza (shudder).

Or would my recent taste of Ardbeg Scotch in a jazz bar last night sufficiently cover the scottshobbit cultural experience? Not lowbrow enough?

{{{ Judging on that menu I doubt anything is genuine (mushy peas are more an English thing Mad ), probably got the deep fried pizza wrong too.  Mad
Its not just buckie your laws dont allow Halfy, youre not allowed real haggis either which is probably why its a veggie version.
At least they are selling it with neeps, assuming they are genuine, so points for that.
If you do try their deep fried pizza make sure its battered pizza, thats the only way to have it, and lots of salt and vinegar splashed over the top, also essential.}}

If you read the menu more closely, "Panzone" comes with a balsomic reduction and arugula, with a marina dipping sauce. That doesn't sound very Scottish to me but it does increase the chances I may actually manage to eat it.

{{ Evil or Very Mad It doesnt even say its battered, dont bother if its not, no one would have it here unless was battered, otherwise you lose the crunch and lot of the flavour, plus without it the pizza would be soggy No And salt and vinegar is essential Nod 'a balsomic reduction and arugula, with a marina dipping sauce' I dont even know what any of that means Evil or Very Mad }}

Marinara, not marina, though that may work better for the fish and chips. I'm sure it's battered, makes no sense otherwise. Well, actually, the whole thing makes no sense regardless, especially the price!

I notice they DO have mushy peas, and the battered pizza is only slightly more than the non battered, and a very reasonable price to boot! You'd never find anything here at those prices - lasagne for 5 quid?! It' a whole 'nother world.

I still don't understand why anyone would take wonderful peas that pop in your mouth and turn them mushy, but may there's more going on than willful murder of perfectly fine veggies.

Just noticed, what was that Lance was attempting to eat a couple slides up?

Below is a nice history of Scotch, from somebody I enjoy very much - got to meet him at a book signing. He always does a great job with history.

Max Miller's channel was started during covid, which he decided was a perfect opportunity to attempt to make garum, the Roman ketchup of its time.  Apparently lots of people were wondering why the Romans would be so fond of something so obviously nauseating - fermented fish guts - and his channel exploded.  He's been on a roll with recreating historical dishes ever since. He's done haggis; haven't looked that one up yet.
