Has certainly shaped my attitude to a lot of things. My Dad was a inspector on the rigs, wew were there from '81 to '85. Back in the UK before I was in double figures!

But yeah it was great! Artificial in many ways (swimming / tennis / BBQ's in the desert / Ski club /- brownie pack camp in a hotel - no camp beds in the church hall for us!) Still love going to Arab countries, step off the plane, feel the warmth and take in the scents... fab!

I have always fancied going to the middle east, but am put off by all the trouble- my a forementioned mate chides me for this saying its more dangerous walking through Glasgow at night, and I've doen that numerous times blind drunk. But the Scots have good ties going back a long, long time there. Its always appealed.

Off-topic, but congratulations on reaching 5000 posts, Petty! I think we might need to change the "Wannabe Beard" rank to something more fitting since GB "only" reached more than 3000 posts on the old forum. cheers

Oh I'd agree, although I am a concerned with all that going on currently. Mum, me and Squach went to Egypt as I'm cure we've mentioned. Stuck for an extra week we stayed in a backpacker hostel in central Cairo and walked the back streets at 11 at night, never once felt threated. Also last year when in Morrocco we went upto a mountain town market with our driver - the only travellers there, again never felt nervous. Lots of curiosity, but no hassle! (Got lost for an hour in the Marrekesh Medina and still felt safe, had to be led out be a local boy! Laughing )

This is called Dark Ressurection its an Italian made homage to Star Wars, its made by volunteers and nobody was paid to make the film a bit like Hunt for Gollum, its all made by Star war fanatics, i post it with subtitles, enjoy.

Didn't get a chance to watch it until this evening Mrs Figg and crap it was not. I actually found it to be quite refreshing, most fan star wars stuff take all their visual cues from Lucas, this does not. It owes more to Ridley Scotts Alien for loook. The direction is excellent and like a lot if italian cinema it is as interested in letting the camera explore form and shape as it is narrative. I'd recommend it for a watch and would watch it again before I'd watch any of Lucas latest three attempts.

Thanks for giving a go Petty, I thought it was pretty amazing that it was fan made and nobody was paid, the quality and special effects were excellent considering. Very Happy I like promoting people who do things for love not money. Although if these people get jobs at the end of it thats cool too.

Just started playing Star Wars: The Old Republic today. I've always liked Star Wars but never as much as Lord of the Rings so I'm intrigued to how I'll find it. I'm playing as a trooper class and liking it, graphically beautiful (I used to play runescape in 2007, I know these things), and storyline so far, pretty nice. Cool game, though I'm not sure if I like it enough to shell out £8 a month! Also been playing darksiders (getting owned by a bitch called Tiamat and I can't change the difficulty so I'm shelving it- getting stuck at a boss is so horrible and there's nothing you can do apart from dying over and over again, I'm going to get someone to go co-op with me as I'm pretty useless at times) and skyrim; finished main quest chose imperial (obvious choice amrite?) currently starting of the markarth quest line Wink

Just to keep you gutys in the know Wink

Back from the cinema, and I've got to say: I loved the "Phantom Menace" in 3D Very Happy

There were a few scenes - for e.g. when they showed Coruscant from above - I really liked that!
And the writing in the beginning! I thought I had to bow my head to read it all, because it seemed to start right in front of me! Laughing

What I also liked was to look out for little signes (and creatures) which I didn't notice before on my little tv screen at home. There were a few funny ones Laughing Razz

Seriously, if they're working on other the parts in 3D as well I'll be sure to watch them! Wink

I'm going to see it too when I get the chance Very Happy I'm not that big a fan of 3D, but in contrast to most people (apparently) I like EP 1, and the chance to see it on the big screen again is worth two hours of 3D Smile Glad you liked it, Semiramis, your thoughts on it make me optimistic, even the 3D part doesn't sound so bad now Very Happy

The review of it on Empire Magazines site was not so favourable- they said the 3-d was ok for most of it and overall only gave it 2 stars- not sure if thats cause its dodgy 3D or cause its just dodgy 3D or not!
