Ally is right. They do yes, but the green party arent taking votes off the government these days, UKIP are. And the greens have had a few goes at general elections and not increaed their amounts- UKIP almost certainy will make substantial increases if current voting trends in England continue.

local election results mean nothing. the green party has more chances of increaseing their no of mps than UKIP does

Based on what? Green party MP numers have dropped since their big break through in Westminister- if UKIP even make a comparable breakthrough to that which the Green Party did it will take seats of Tories most likely.
The danger there for the Tories is not that they lose badly becuase of it but that it does just enough that they win as party with most votes but sill lose to the lab and dims numbers added.
That margin might come down to just a few seats- and thats the sort of numbers UKIP might get.

they might finish 2 or 3rd in a few places

statistically they'd need 25 percent of the vote to statiscailly sneak in with 1 mp

And if they can build on what they have begun in the next 2 years they should achieve that- especially if the lib dem votes continue collapsing as well.

even if they they get more than the votes than the lib dems they still could have no mps

if the electriol reforms went through there could be a libdem/ukip govermemnt

well maybe not ukip but the lib dems could get a majority if they had passed that

I dont see any sort of PR cming in at Westminister anytime soon.
Has its plus and minus points- its definetly more represtive of the votes- but on the down side parties like the BNP would probably have had MP's too.
But thats always the question with democracy- how much is democratic enough?
Why dont we put every major government decision to a pubic vote for example- an dlet the people decide?

You might be suprised to find Eldo that I havent yet committed to which way I will vote- its leaning heavily towrads independence- I have always supported that- but not at any cost.
I am still waiting on the Unionst side to come with anything to put me off or make me think its not a good idea- but the SNP have yet to convince me of how a lot of it will actually work either.
So a provisional yes.

So Boris Johnson, Tory Mayor of London is now saying London should be fiscally independent of the Treasury and be able to raise and spend its own revenue- all well and good except according to the Tories such a thing is not on for the entire nation of Scotland, but it is for London.
