That was sad. I admit I looked her up on Google & saw she did 40 episodes ( so it says ) on Dr Who. I do remember her tho, with those big innocent eyes.

"I will never stand with the Dr" is often the thing a jealous younger sibling says.

I watched The Five Doctors recently, apart from the novelty of the interactions between different doctors/companions I thought it was pretty bad overall- a very thin plot with too many characters, peopled slated Moffat for having no Classic Doctors in the 50th Anniversary (which had only 75 minutes to tell a complicated plot) I think JNT is deserving of just as much criticism trying to crowbar in Five, well actually 3 Doctors, a stand-in in a wig and 30 seconds of Tom Baker outakes from Shada plus lots of companions into 90 minutes most of them had little to do apart from yell and sput exposition, I can see why fans who grew up with the old series would enjoy it, but it all felt a bit fan servicey and dull i.m.o.

It also had some baffling continuity mistakes or weird plot points: although it was nice to see The Brigadier and Troughton appear again it seemed very odd the two acted like old friends when they had only met 3 times (on screen) before for only a few days at most (why would the 2nd Doctor bother to turn up to a UNIT renunion and then for only a couple of minutes? surely the 3rd Doctor would have been more appropriate?) very odd they brought Susan back and completely glossed over the Doctor abandoning her on earth, the later Doctors more or less ignore her! Why was The 3rd Doctors car timescooped along with him?-he abandons it in the Death Zone (which weirdly seems to have paved roads ) yet it turns up again in time for Tom Baker's first serial, Why did Sarah Jane leave K-9 out in her garden for any passing stranger to steal?

It had possibly the worst cliffhanger in Doctor Who history (the scene where Sarah Jane falls down a short grassy knoll and is apparently too stupid to attempt to climb up it again with out the Doctor's assistance, I'm guessing they were trying to make it look like a bigger fall but filmed from a bad angle...), though it was interesting to note the 2nd Doctor refers to Jamie/Zoe's memories being wiped...does this mean The Five Doctors is set after The War Games? i.e does he regenerate off screen?

I'm probably overthinking/nitpicking it (multi Doctor stories are generally quite bad) but it just didn't engage me...

{{yeah its a bit of a mess beyond the nostalgia and novelty factor- for my money the Three Doctor is a better tale. And like the 50th Anniversary it benefits from not having too many Doctors and companions in the mix.
It all very well to say everyone who has ever been important in the show should be in multi-Doctor stories but in terms of telling a coherent narrative in the time frame its a non-starter really. }}}

So what do they base this assertion on?

Here's their proof-

So a star of the sow has said so! Who?

' Michelle Gomez, who plays Missy in the sci-fi hit, dropped a plot spoiler when discussing Broadchurch actress Jodie Whittaker.
She said: “Now we have a got a female Doctor so there is going to be girl on girl.”

Ah- having seen that interview I can categorically say no oe could have mistaken Michelle Gomez's words for anything more than a passing joke, one of several she made as is her way.

'A lesbian love story is set to send ratings through the roof.'

Um what lesbian love story?- they haven't provided any evidence that says that, supports it or even hints at it.
So what else have they got to back up this claim?

'they appear ready to go full pelt in the quest for a bicurious doctor when Jodie becomes the first female Doctor.
Pearl said: “It could work.”

Wow! That's quite something- first they repeat an assertions they have provided no evidence of- then they claim to confirm it using the words of Pearl Mackie- only Ive seen that interview too and that is fso far as out of context as to boggle the mind.
That quote is from an interview in which Pearl tells fans doubting a female Doctor to give it a go as 'it could work.' (she was being slightly mocking of the doubters here). It had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with sex, lesbianism, bisexuality or relationships regarding the Doctor.

This entire story is concocted from two quotes that are unconnected to each other, or the claimed subject matter and completely out of context- yet are cited as proof of it!

Bear this story in mind whenever you read anything in a UK tabloid! This is how they work. }}}

To help kill the time between now and the Xmas special I'm been catching up on/re-listening to some of my ever growing Big Finish audiodrama collection, just listened to the 8th Doctor story 'Horror Of Glam Rock' (a somewhat formulaic but kooky fun base under siege story set at night in a 1970's motorway service station cafe) and who was among the guest cast? Bernard Cribbins pre-Wilf Mott, I had completely forgotten he was in this story so it was a pleasant surprise to hear him crop up as a rather unpleasant supporting character, and in retrospect quite amusing that he admits (in the CD extras interviews) how keen he was to get a guest role on the TV series, in fact I remember reading somewhere it was partly down to listening to this story than RTD was convinced to cast him as Wilf...
