{{Got to admit all the friendly folk I met in London were immigrants- the few actual Londoners we interacted with were unbelievably rude. Like mindbogglingly rude- one guy in particular (a bus driver) we asked for directions from, had he not scurried back into his bus (he was fine being rude to immigrants but soon as he heard my Scottish accent he was out of there!) I would probably have smacked him one he was so outrageously rude and unhelpful and unfriendly! Nice place to visit for the sights, but I'd hate to live in that atmosphere.}}}

New Yorkers have a reputation for being rude, but in fact are usually too busy rushing from one place to another to stop. If you can get one to actually stop for directions you'll find them eager to be helpful, in large part because they like to show off.

Have to agree, Londoners are a weird lot ! I'm treated like a Southern retard allowed out for the day & must be spoken to as such whilst they look around for my 'carer' OR, I'm ignored ! Praps I smell of seagulls, chips & chalk ? who knows If I'm going anywhere out of my comfort zone ( ie my straw bale ) I work out routes, shops, places I want to see & always make eye contact & use my " I will laser you to dust " look, that usually does it

About to go for lunch at the London cafe. Dont think I'll be having the jellied eels thou.
A late full English breakfast sounds good.

Cockney accent seems to be disappearing, anyone else notice this.

Question for the other Brits here, how bad is the snow where you are? We've got about 3-4 inches deep, constantly falling snow from 1pm till late night yesterday, though only the occasional flurry today (heavy icy rain is expected tonight which will play havoc with the roads), most of the main roads are ok, but all local trains and buses are cancelled. might post a few picks later.

That's not very high, except for changes in elevation England isn't that big a country so I wouldn't expect snowfall amounts to vary that much, unless it has to do with how close to the sea you are?

Edit: okay I take that back. An island 8 degrees of latitude is like the difference between New York and Charleston, South Carolina.  Funny, I never thought of England as being that big.

Yeah I'm right near the south coast (literally a couple of miles), we usually only get proper snow once every three or four years, this is the worst we've had in probably five or six years, it may not seem alot but it's alot for us, usually the snow doesn't make it down this far, or we get sheltered by the isle of wight, but it's blown in from the channel and sucked up a lot of moisture from the sea, so the snow is quite powdery but deeper than we were expecting, it's shut down the trains and buses (on the news it said one poor group of commuters have been stranded on a train in The New Forrest for nearly 18 hours) but Wales, and the North East/Scotland are reporting much heavier snow.

It's maybe 3 or 4 inches deep, but relatives of mine in the Midlands and Wales have much deeper snow

I would think a train could just move slowly through snow of that depth.

Yep, and those ponds are half composed of dirt and old leaves

And I think those tracks across were from a fox

Love the dog Weve had snow strops on & off all day every day so far. The snow came down on day one & stayed. The cold is the worst Its fecking freezing !! The wind is so icy you nearly wet yourself stepping out, & no matter how near the corner shop is its not near enough. Its very slippery as well. Any fluids on the path turned to ice instantly. The sky is an impenetrable blanket of white & more white. There is no bird song, there is an eerie quietness & stillness, almost as tho you are the last survivor. Its not a fun,friendly snow, its an evil snow, with a hidden agenda.

How much snow counts as "a lot" is an entirely relative measure based on local climate and infrastructure/preparedness. Three to four inches is significant for any area that only sees that level of snowfall once every few years.
