Re: US General Election 2016
There's two sides to the coin. Anyone who expects he'll straight up do whatever he's been saying is a fool, and by that I mean from the very start of his campaign.
But people who have a little more intelligence yet still have confidence in him, are probably betting on his ability to turn on a dime to take advantage of opportunities, and when he sees an opening to bamboozle his way straight through to getting what he wants.

Re: US General Election 2016
{{Will that fly? I mean are there enough of these more intelligent Trump voters to be thinking that way? From what I have seen of Trump supporters so far, with some exceptions of course, they tend to lean more towards the level of that guy in the Cruz video.
If that sort of thinking does make up the backbone of his support are they going to buy him changing position on fundamental issues like the wall and who pays for it? Or on bringing jobs back to the US by cutting new trade deals? Or ripping up the Iran deal? (which is not only pretty much impossible now, but would also be a pointless gesture that the US would make alone).
Does changing his positions like this for the general not undermine his core support in the country and is appeal as a straight talker? }}}

Re: US General Election 2016
What the people I know who are leaning towards Trump have in common (and none of them are dummies ) is that more than anything they're looking for somebody who's just going to shake things up in Washington DC, and they don't care much at all about the details of his policy. They're not being fooled, they just don't care!

Re: US General Election 2016
I think whatever he says, so long as it is clear and honest, will appeal. I'm sure he knows quite well he can't just go and build a wall, and will likely say at some point "I was just saying what was important, I knew there would be roadblocks but I just wanted to get it out there". If he only does this kind of thing a couple of times people will accept it. If it keeps piling up, then he'll have problems with his base.
And yes, people mainly just want him to blow things apart. That's actually a large part of the appeal of Bernie Sanders as well - we've seen right here someone switch from Bernie to Trump, which tells you it's not policy that people are interested in.

Maybe she didn't get the message. You know, things happen. Should I call her again? It's been two days, maybe she just got busy and forgot. I was so sure she liked me. Perhaps she responds better to email. Yeah, that's it. But I'm not gonna keep writing messages revising what I said on the last one. One message then wait a couple days. I'll try to be funny this time, but not too long. If she responds to that then I'll call her. I just know she likes me...

Re: US General Election 2016
{{{ “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States"- Donald Trump reading his own press release, December 2015
Donald Trump yesterday in response to the new Muslim Mayor of London expressing concern if Trump is President he will be banned from the US- "It hasn't been called for yet. This is just a suggestion."
Odd, when you read out from a podium your own press release stating your position its usually indicative that you are making more than a 'suggestion'! Wonder if his Trump supporters know he is only suggesting things.
And what does he mean "It hasn't been called for yet." His original statement says explicitly "Donald J. Trump is calling for"
Ps American people- I have some castles I wan to sell to you. }}}

I don't even wanna make fun of Trump for this one. The Muslim ban "suggestion" is/was just too gross.

For me that was when he stopped being funny. I could roll my eyes and laugh before then.

Re: US General Election 2016
Trump appears to live in a moral vacuum, and abusing opponentsor casually dismissing any ideas from anyone else is repugnant, and openly changing his views at a fast rate does not smack of leadership just graspingness... Sadly, Hillary leaves me cold. She seems smart enough, but somehow cold and aloof... And any woman who doesn't engender a lot of female support when Trump is her opponent, gives me real cause for doubt... Does Congress hold the real power? Hope so.

Re: US General Election 2016
Hillary's numbers will change once/if she secures the nomination. At the minute her numbers are tied up in the split among the Democrats between her and Sanders. If she gets the nomination she will win. The same majority of the population that secured Obamas' re-election, despite the Republicans making same amount of noice as they are this time around, will secure her victory and make sure Trump isn't elected.
In other news, I see the Republican leadership have taken their 30 pieces of silver.
Well.. well..
Down we go..
