Re: The Riddle-Game
Goodness, I forgot all about this thread!
Hmm...
Some rotund creatures lie sluggish and dull,
But I am most spry when I am fat.
With expansive girth I frolic about,
leaping right over your hat.
All I could think of in the moment!

Re: The Riddle-Game
...I've forgotten the answer to my own riddle!
A balloon perhaps?
Anyway:
Fruit of the earth, and fruit of the stalk,
mashed and mixed and rolled.
Shape of the iron, and heat of the flame,
A bed in the shape of the world.
Fruit of the beast, and fruit of the cane,
Spread with fine cutlery.
Coiled and roiled and popped in a mouth,
it sure tastes delicious to me.
Haha that was awful, oh well.

I can't believe Forrest forgot the answer to his own riddle. But balloon fits.
On the second one: Cinnamon Roll.

Re: The Riddle-Game
Nope, nope. Closest with waffle. "Apple of the earth" would be a nearer hint for the first line.

Re: The Riddle-Game
It's the "coiled" that's causing the problems.

Re: The Riddle-Game
It's lefse!
Fruit of the earth, and fruit of the stalk, potatoes and flour
mashed and mixed and rolled. mixed together, rolled flat
Shape of the iron, and heat of the flame,
A bed in the shape of the world. fried on a flat griddle
Fruit of the beast, and fruit of the cane,
Spread with fine cutlery. Spread with butter and sugar
Coiled and roiled and popped in a mouth,
it sure tastes delicious to me. Rolled into a tube!

Re: The Riddle-Game
Never heard of 'em. I don't think we have them on the East Coast and Wikipedia seems to imply as much too. Definitely makes sense with your clues, though!
Re: The Riddle-Game
Never heard of them either.

Re: The Riddle-Game
...Missing out guys! My grandma had them around a lot when I visited. And we'd sometimes get them for a treat. I haven't seen them out here anywhere, but they do sell it in stores in Minnesota I know.

Re: The Riddle-Game
I find that other spreadables on them are similarly satisfactory, jellies for example.

Re: The Riddle-Game
Look like flour tortillas to me. We would sometimes put butter and brown sugar on them. but the potato would likely soften them up.

Changes the flavour of course. And they are softer yes. It's quite comforting.

Re: The Riddle-Game
I found yet another riddle elsewhere on the forum the answer to which I no longer remember. Apparently I thought of it while doing dishes...
"What's blue inside blue inside the deep blue?"
I did post it six years ago, to be fair. Just buggered if I can remember it is all.
