The office's Internet police task force is asking Congress to reconsider portions of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
This could make any and all copyrighted material that is reuploaded and streamed a felony.
Something as harmless as a "Let's Play" could potentially mean prison time.

I see that as a double edged sword, Artistes who have their work copywrited will go up in arms if it effects sells & distribution, BUT, once the property is purchased by the consumer is it not theirs to do as they like ? can they not upload on utube ? Utube has opened the door to many artists & ordinary people who just wanna get a leg on the ladder, not just in music but writting, (they can also "speak" their work) Art itself, with paintings, sculptures etc,  theres many genres. Will this infringe on the Right to Free speech ? Out & out theft is one thing but, if the person doing say a cover of The who's Bubba Riley, SAYS its a cover & its THEIR interpretation & no money has been excepted ? its just to enhance their career ? Utube has been a very good way of getting yourself known, & there are plenty of Bona Fide Artistes who advocate Utube ? This is gonna be a wasps nest isnt it !!

I think if it were me as the artist I would be flattered.
There is a difference form someone just nicking your material and making it available- and someone imitating or copying your material for use in something of their own I think.
When it comes to music there are quite a few artists who would not have had a career were it not for sites like youtube.
