Most impressive, Petty. I had been following your approach to it but haven't been active enough lately and so I forgot.
Congratulations!

Re: GUYS GUYS!! LOOK !! LOOK!!
Just noticed that Ringo is a mere one post away from his 4000th postaversary.
Re: GUYS GUYS!! LOOK !! LOOK!!
After weeks of watching myself creep closer I am almost to the fabled 20K post landmark. The anticipation for it stretches back far further, though. This is the biggest number I dared to dream of when I was young in the fandom, and it will be the last noteworthy milestone I pass for quite a while. It's been a long, long, long time coming.

I don't really understand the post count celebrations. I fall more into Petty's camp:
Its frankly embarrassing.

Re: GUYS GUYS!! LOOK !! LOOK!!
It's a little hard to explain at this point. When I was starting off it was a big deal on a lot of forums. Me and a lot of my friends used to make threads for each thousand-post milestone and there was much congratulation even from people we didn't know as well (and some forums were big enough that you didn't get to know everyone there even if you posted a lot). There's always the psychological joy of seeing a number associated with you grow bigger. Some people back then would say the whole thing was pointless, but those were usually people with post counts in the tens of thousands themselves.
But anyway, as I mentioned above, 20,000 was the most distant post count I had looked forward to, as everything else seemed even beyond consideration. But that's not to minimize the distance to 20,000 itself. I had cleared 13,000 in less than two and a half years of active posting, but then left that forum to come over here. I had lost almost 3000 posts on the old forum due to DPD and had to start over. Finally getting here now, after just shy of five years on the new forum, is a fun moment of nostalgia for me. I don't make special posts noting my thousand-post milestones anymore, but four zeroes in a row seems worth commemorating in some fashion. It's a chance to look back and reflect and also, if you've made posts with substance (as I have tried to do), feel good about those too as well as the big round numbers.
Not necessarily the most mature thing to do, but this place is important enough to me, that I can't honestly say I'm embarrassed to have spent so much time here. That said, I don't regret not posting as frequently as I used to (I once did 1000 posts in 28 days back in 2011, and 2000 posts in 35 days when I was a real young buck in 2009). That's not really sustainable with adult responsibilities, but on the whole the benefits of being an adult outweigh the relative loss of free time.
And ... *deep breath*
There it is.

Congratulations Eldo!
I'd buy you a beer for each thousand, but since that's not your style here's 20 elephants. Enjoy!
