I'm not complaining that they mined the appendices for extra material, I think it was good as well. But nobody should complain that her death wasn't included in the movies.

Just reminding you guys that people felt there was too much Arwen. (I missed the stories of Gimli and Legolas, they just disappeared after the Aragorn became king)

What do you mean after Aragorn became King?- bar a stupid inserted drnking contest- and a clumsy moden anchronism in the fight competion (not to mention Legolas cheats by going into a phone booth and emerging as super shiled surfing elf) there is no character development of note after FotR. And in fact in PJ's version Legolas is considerable closer and develops a better friendship with Aragorn than Gimli- there's the little scenes at Helms Deep where they have their lovers tiff and make up, and the 'your friends are with you'- and Legolas' sad face when his boyfriend goes over the cliff and loads more of little moments between those two than between Leglas and Gimli after FotR. Evil or Very Mad

And I was just pointing out Norc that why would you expect any charcater development between Legolas and Gimli after he became King when Pj did not bother with giving us any before?

fair point, if you think there wasn't any character development. I don't. And there isn't that much more in the book really either.

I'm still unclear as to how this guy thinks he is making statistical statements about the societies in Tolkien's world when the only data he has to go on are the family trees of a handful of noble families. Question

I'd like to know his methodology for putting that chart together because I get the sense that this is another case of him overgeneralizing from very limited data. The fact that Hobbits make up such a large portion of the chart makes me suspect that because while most of the specific genealogical information we have is Hobbit-related, it's clear from the books that Hobbits are only a small part of the overall population of Middle-earth.
