Re: Concerning Dave
I am the last person to ask about tech stuff but if I need to learnt things I look at Youtube. A quick 'how to set up Lenovo tablet gets me endless videos of help. Does Dave have access to Youtube?

Re: Concerning Dave
He said he got it setup, but the logging in to sites is a problem for some reason which I don't really comprehend. I'll send this to him, may have some things he doesn't know.

However I don't have any problems logging into forumshire on it.Update: I was able to get past most of the setup hurdles [though I had to set up a dummy gmail account before it would even talk to me] and chrome works fine for simple searches, but i can't figure out how to log into any of my accounts including forumshire. I don't see how I'm supposed to access any of the toolbar/menu stuff. Any tips? I've never worked with a tablet before. I may have to find somebody under the age of 25 to help me.
Any help for him? It's a Lenovo tablet. He actually sent me this email saturday but I was out in the woods for vacation.
Not sure if this is the problem but there's a chance that the very unintuitive mobile website is loading up. There is a small arrow in the top right which allows you to login/request the desktop version. Hope y'all get it sorted!

Re: Concerning Dave
Dave thinks that solution is very plausible, but had to rush his mom to the emergency room (2 hours away!) yesterday, so other things are taking priority at the moment. Hope she's okay, but at least she made it through the trip through what no doubt are winding country roads.

Re: Concerning Dave
I suppose he's catching up on things. And perhaps figuring out how to type on a tablet.

Yes. I can see you all, but distantly as in a fog. This is a very strange device with peculiar habits like wandering off to strange places and turning itself off at random intervals. Much to learn...

Re: Concerning Dave
Yeah, tablets kinda suck. We might have done better collecting a bit more and getting you a cheap knock-off laptop, but it's not clear if that would have done you many favors either.

Mom is still on a knife-edge. We're hoping she can get stable enough to be discharged to a nursing facility that would be a little closer and a little quieter for her. She'll be 90 if she makes it to August {{{crossing fingers}}} So it goes...

Re: Concerning Dave
Hi Figgs!
Still figuring out this palantir thingy. Allys tip about the little arrow was on the mark, but the desktop version was so small I could hardly read anything or hit buttons. Just figured out I can make you folks bigger or smaller at will with a magic pass of my finger and thumb!!!
Bear with me. This could take a while....

Re: Concerning Dave
Yeah, tablets actually grew out of smart phones, but because you've never had a smart phone the "obvious" isn't something you even think of. Should have thought to mention that to you.
Resizing and moving around on the screen is all done by figure gestures. Once you get the hang of it things will go a lot smoother. It's such an embedded part of the culture these days that I'm having problems finding an appropriate tutorial for you...it's like finding a tutorial for how to operate a microwave oven.

Re: Concerning Dave
I've got no problems with microwave ovens or phones until they start putting on airs and declaring themselves to be smart. Self Important would be a better description I think.
