Re: Tales of Home [7]
I've seen that view before (in a different season) but hadn't noticed what looks like a lake in the background. That would make for a pleasant walk.
I suppose you have a job where you actually have to be there in a group to get it done. I hope you are at least getting a stipend until things blow over and you can go back to it.

Re: Tales of Home [7]
It's the covid situation that is mainly the cause for the lack of work. Few covid cases in our area, so I'd probably be at the office if there was work to do.
Luckily I had work while Finrod was laid off from his job, now he's at work while I'm off. With stipend. So we're doing fine.
The lake is a bit bigger than it seems, here's from another angle. (Not my picture.)

Here's where our little farm lies, orange blurr is the barn and our house (partially behind)

Re: Tales of Home [7]
I used to live in places that rarely got snow. Such a treat when it came, but it wouldn't stick around very long. In New York City we get a few snowfalls a year, but it's rare for it to stick around for longer than a week.
Even after making the comparison a few years ago and realizing that Great Britain covers as much latitude as 40% of our own east coast, I still have a hard time shaking the idea that as an island it shouldn't have that big changes in weather across it.

Re: Tales of Home [7]
{{ Just another day in Scotland-
'A street attack victim who had a large chunk of his tongue bitten off by a female thug was left horrified when a seagull swooped down and ate it.'
If that doesnt sound mad enough the whole thing is mad!
'the pair were strangers to each other but "an argument developed" between them and the court heard Ryan had initially tried to walk away from the confrontation.
The fiscal said McKenzie continued to be aggressive towards Ryan and he approached her again with "a clenched fist".
Ms Dickson said: "Miss Ryan, somewhat oddly, responded to that by pushing him on the body and kissing him. She kissed him on the lips and during the course of that she bit through his tongue which caused a piece of his tongue to be removed. Mr McKenzie walked off and spat a part of his tongue out at which point the piece of muscle was picked up by a large seagull that made off with the piece of tongue."
The fiscal told the court the chunk of tongue bitten off during the struggle was approximately two centimetres by three centimetres in size.' - Daily Record
The lawyer for the defense admitted that it was "a very strange incident in the round"

Re: Tales of Home [7]
Wife's horse got sick. Ended up being a twisted intestine. Nearly $11'000 later.
🤪🤪

Re: Tales of Home [7]
Ack. If it's the lower intestine don't they fix that by basically fisting the horse and sorting things out? I'm just operating from my knowledge of All Creatures Great and Small.

No, and I'm f*&^% frustrated by it. It wouldn't be so bad if everyone I know hadn't managed to get it, but I can't seem to find an appointment anywhere.
