Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
Thanks guys, I had a good one. I threw a taco party out on the hill with a fantasy-themed drinks bar my girlfriend made and two lemon-strawberry cakes. Some people didn't make it, most noticeably my parents, who are in MN, and my sister, who is being paranoid about Covid.
But anyway, good times. I got a big German kitchen knife for my new kitchen! (There's finally a kitchen in the cabin now, this erection is becoming more and more sophisticated.)

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
I fully approve the concept of a taco party for a birthday. It all sounds quite creative. If you were given a kitchen knife for a gift I suspect you're the type to make the cakes directly from strawberries and lemons...unheard of these days.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
That is good. I got a carving knife for Christmas that everyone is now using to just chop everything!
The cake sounds awesome! Do you have a secret recipe?

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
No secret! I used this recipe for the cake and frosting: https://www.southernliving.com/recipes/strawberry-lemonade-cake?printview
And then I made the faux-buttercream from this recipe: https://enjoyinglifeeveryday.com/wprm_print/2705
The cake itself came out a tad too dense. Some people like that, but I think it should have been lighter.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
throw in half a table spoon of baking soda with your baking powder. You've got enough acid that it should work, but maybe up the lemon juice a bit as well.
Sounds fabulous. I like how you subbed out the heavy cream cheese dressing for a lighter fluffier cream.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
Thanks everyone!
I've been away from Forumshire lately so I missed the messages.
I baked a four layer carrot cake this year with standard butter and cream cheese frosting and some candied carrot slices on top. And then for dinner, as I was feeling lazy after throwing a house-warming party last fall, I got a bunch of sausages from the market nearby in Corralitos and had a bonfire outside for roasting.
Hm.. I was supposed to take a video of the finished house, but now there's still party mess outside so it's not quite ready for that.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
I've still only had one birthday party on which I had a girlfriend at the time, as I broke up with my ex a few months after that one in 2021.
I do miss the company something dreadful.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
He um...he left his erection behind, didn't you hear? I suppose it was staying erect, and though that is thoroughly satisfactory and good for inviting people over in the short term one eventually needs some variety. Most men wait until old age to leave their erections behind them, though. Forest seems to be ahead of the game.

{{ Really? When? How did I miss that? I suppose there is the possibility I was drunk. But what happened? Surely Forests erection didn't collapse at his age? You'd think he'd have the youth and vigour to keep up as long as he needed it. }}

The wood's still there, Forest just left it behind. Probably a useful trick.
