That's both appropriate and adorable. Approrable. How do you find these things?

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
Thanks guys, I had a good one. I threw a taco party out on the hill with a fantasy-themed drinks bar my girlfriend made and two lemon-strawberry cakes. Some people didn't make it, most noticeably my parents, who are in MN, and my sister, who is being paranoid about Covid.
But anyway, good times. I got a big German kitchen knife for my new kitchen! (There's finally a kitchen in the cabin now, this erection is becoming more and more sophisticated.)

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
I fully approve the concept of a taco party for a birthday.
It all sounds quite creative. If you were given a kitchen knife for a gift I suspect you're the type to make the cakes directly from strawberries and lemons...unheard of these days.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
That is good. I got a carving knife for Christmas that everyone is now using to just chop everything!
The cake sounds awesome! Do you have a secret recipe?

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
No secret! I used this recipe for the cake and frosting: https://www.southernliving.com/recipes/strawberry-lemonade-cake?printview
And then I made the faux-buttercream from this recipe: https://enjoyinglifeeveryday.com/wprm_print/2705
The cake itself came out a tad too dense. Some people like that, but I think it should have been lighter.

Re: Happy Birthday Forest!!
throw in half a table spoon of baking soda with your baking powder. You've got enough acid that it should work, but maybe up the lemon juice a bit as well.
Sounds fabulous. I like how you subbed out the heavy cream cheese dressing for a lighter fluffier cream.
