Re: US General Election 2016
And with someone like this in charge of the Democratic party, you're not going to win over anyone in middle America.
We're all Americans, stop dividing us into groups. Stop telling me I'm a bad person because I'm white.

Re: US General Election 2016
That's not really what she said. She said she realizes that blacks are frustrated by often hidden racism in the country, that as a white person she hasn't experienced it and will be liable to miss things unless it's pointed out to her.
I don't think she said it in the best way, perhaps (cringeworthy at times); but it needs to be taken the way it would if a guy was admitting that there are some things about being a woman he doesn't currently get because he hasn't experienced it, but he's willing to listen and try. Do the substitution and see if you are still offended.
If you want to read it as an attack on white people, go ahead; but I think that's looking for excuses to be offended.

I usually don't watch videos because I'm on dial-up, but I drove up to wifi this morning (supposed to be working

I'm confused Bungo. It seemed to me she's saying exactly the same thing you are, that we're all Americans.
The point she's making is that the Democratic Party hasn't always treated all Americans the same (which IMHO is definitely true, but then you already know I'm not a big fan of either party

But then she's from Boise Idaho, which culturally isn't too far from rural Washington State, so maybe I understand her when others don't??? I don't know.

Two comments on this
1. The CNN reporter who Trump tangled with started being quite rude when he was bypassed for a question, which is probably why other reporters did not stick up for him at the time.
2. Though I like the suggestion of other reporters taking up the questions that were bypassed from others, much of the rest of the article would simply feed into Trump's repeated claims that the press is in a conspiracy against him, which would not be helpful. The press needs to work hard to demonstrate independence, both from the government and even from each other.

Quite rude...... will you allow one of the premier and most respected News outlets to ask A question? No, the person being rude, childish and disturbing when it comes to the freedom of the press is quite obvious to me...

You mean the news network that colluded with Hillary Clinton during the DNC primary via Hillarys relationship with Donna Brazile? CNN is a joke. They've lost all credibility as far as I'm concerned.

The marketing and persuasion battle continues. Scott Adams compares the "pussy hats" to Trump's MAGA hats. Come with me and look through The Persuasion Filter.

Re: US General Election 2016
Since when has any US cable news network been "one of the most respected news outlets in the world"? (To quote the Guardian article Blue linked to.)
Not that I condone all of Trump's interactions with the media but c'mon guys. Progressives have been shitting on cable news for years, justifiably so in my opinion. Don't flip flop on this just because of Trump's positions.
I don't mean to single out anyone here ... consider this a more general gripe.

{{PBS- only one I consider anything like actual news (and I believe on Trumps chopping list!) If I'm off on a Sunday I usually try to watch the PBS sunday morning coverage and public phone-in. Otherwise American news is highly entertaining but its not news. Its a ratings war hyping and sensationalising and promoting extremes (not ideologically driven necessarily but to get the viewers in) but the last thing it is is respectable news reporting! }}}

Re: US General Election 2016
PBS is definitely good but I think part of the reason for that (beyond being publicly funded, though that's probably the biggest factor) is that they aren't a 24 hour cable network which has to try to find sensational material to fill a never-ending news cycle. They're more akin to the other over-the-air broadcast networks in the US, which aren't monolithic entities but each include a whole bunch of member stations in cities and regions across the country. News presentation on those channels tends to be somewhat more sober than on cable networks (and they show lots of stuff other than news and current events).
Re: US General Election 2016
I would definitely not put PBS in the same breath with cable networks.

Meanwhile, we may be on our way to party-approved science. We must be sure that America only produces idealogically pure research.

Re: US General Election 2016
If anyone had the idea to "damage" America in some way Id guess now would be a good time. Seems like the country is so mixed & messed up emotionally if not mentally, well, here's the golden opportunity. There seems to be a lot of internal squabbling going on, who's watching the back door ?
