Is the new version longer or shorter?

{{ Very slightly longer by about ten minutes excluding end credits- clocks in at about 2hrs 26mins (edited down from extended editions over 6 hours of footage!). But its got some substantial changes to the rough version, is much, much smoother to watch and is fully rendered (I dont know if you've taken a look at last one Halfy but it doesnt even go full screen as was just for blocking in ideas really).
Im currently uploading the new version now- will take a while, google drive has slow upload at best of times and its just under 4 gig in size. }}

{{ Yeah as I knew when I did it was just blocking in ideas of how to do it for later I didnt bother outputting it at full quality or anything, it was just meant for my own use as a rough guide really - this is the finished version.

edit add- though technically speaking not full quality either- my actual outputted file is 15gig, which is too big for uplaoding, so had to convert the file a second time to make it smaller- so though its HD and full screen, it has lost some fidelity in the process, the biggest difference being that the sound was full 3d surround and is now just stereo, but its a massive file size saver.}}

I wouldn't think sound would have added that much data compared to video, but no need for anything past stereo. Keeping surround sound it bonkers if it takes up significant space.

I have also redone the first film to tidy up some bits and make some changes it needed to bring it into line with film 2. So Ill be replacing the current pts 1 and 2 of it with a new single film file for UJ. But as it took about 20hrs to upload DoS and process might leave it a bit, start it overnight or something. }}

So your first two pieces could be combined as well, and we'd have a two part Hobbit, which is entirely reasonable.

{{ And have been- just finished the redit of the first film as one single film and file. Also with necessary changes- when I first edited UJ, BoFA wasnt even released yet, so I didnt know exactly which elements in regard to Azog and the Necromancer I'd need or could do without. So its all been tweaked now so film 1 works intended with film 2.
Also they have been set up to be prequals to the LotR's films, designed to be watched first without prempting events, or paying homage to scenes or lines in LotR's (they are all gone bar one I can think of (Gandalf smashing the stone at trolls to let sun in similar to how he cracks bridge in Moria)) and to hint no more than th ebook to the Necromancer, but they should work perfectly as the first films to see in the series just as the book should be first to read. }}
