embedded advertising
Um, err....have you noticed the embedded advertising that pops up now as little green glyphs? Recently the words 'universities' and 'brother' tripped it. EDIT: and 'more'. But it seems to go on and off.
It's fairly innocuous, I don't mind if it keeps us going for free!
Wonder what other words would trip it? Beer versus bucky? Dandruff? Wombat crossing?

Re: embedded advertising
I havent noticed any- maybe you've picked up a bit of malware in your browser.
Eldo would be the chap to ask, but as far as I am aware there should be no embedded adverts on the site.

Re: embedded advertising
cleared out cookies, still there. This kind of malware is rather uncommon on macintosh, but I can check another computer tomorrow and find out.
Sure you don't see anything stuck to 'brother' or 'computer' in this post or the ones above?

Re: embedded advertising
It says ads are by GoPhoto.it which it claims I installed at some time. Don't see it in my applications folder, will see if I can find the pesky beast and smash it.

Re: embedded advertising
It looks like this turned out to be a non-issue, but just to be clear, the only kind of advertising that Forumotion uses (AFAIK) is regular ol' Google ads at the tops of pages. But we've paid to have those deactivated for the last several years.
Re: embedded advertising
I also had slow page loading (for this site only!), and after poking around the internet figured out I had to change my DNS server, which I never gave the slightest thought (or comprehension) to.
How did we ever do computers before the internet?
