Re: Monty Python
i love how they answer each other's questions and anounces that quatar will host the show
Re: Monty Python
I think that was a very salient comment that the reason the Meaning of Life was considered so inferior is it had no real story tying it all together. Definitely some good stuff in there.

Re: Monty Python
I agree on Meaning of Life- its a series of tv sketches loosely linked by a vague theme of the journey through life.
It has no main characters, no through plot.
I think taken as a series of sketches there are some really good individual ones in it- as a film it doesn't really qualify.

Re: Monty Python
oh but that's the thing about a film called "the meaning of life", life isn't just a series of linked events like you see in a typical movie. it goes on and on and on and it has lots of different stories, it goes on, it's about death, childbirth, sex etc. etc. life is like a series of sketches.
Re: Monty Python
Boo its blocked here- and thats a favourite scene of mine too.
Amazing thing about that Palin interview is that she can barely string a coherent sentence together, yet she still gets all the facts in those sentences wrong! Thats quite a skill.

That was Tina Fey (and they were talking about Russia).
Re: Monty Python
I think Michael Palin was kinda handsome in his day Not a brilliant copy but it will have to do.

what do you mean? i was quoting john cleese...- Norc
Norc I believe Eldo meant the quote you gave about Palin seeing Canada from her house was made in an interview between Palin and the US news host Tina Fey. And that it was worse than seeing Canada from her house, she claimed she could see Russia!

Re: Monty Python
Actually I think Sarah Palin never said anything about seeing other countries from her house, just that they were geographical nieghbors with Alaska. Tina Fey comically exaggerated it into "I can see Russia from my house."

Re: Monty Python
ah, ok, i didn't quite follow what he was commenting on now it makes sense.
the Palin seeing stuff from her house, i just heard about that vaguely or saw it on a fridge-magnet, so you guys are probably right anyway i wouldn't put it past her

Re: Monty Python
Yeah, Halfy's right. I think the original comment was that you can see Russia from certain points in Alaska (which is technically true, not that you can see anything worth seeing). The house part got added in the famous SNL parody by Tina Fey.
