What do we get if everyone pools their numbers? Do we pull even at least?

103895 is the total number of posts made, so we're in the leadhalfwise wrote:Dratted haggis-chasing blabbermouth.

Re: Creative corner split out?
Petty's made 24% and Norc 20% of the total amount of posts
http://www.hobbitmovieforum.com/statistics
Edit: I was looking at this week's posts, the overall percentages would be 27 and 16. Still not bad for two members

Um, just checked the old forum link, and it takes us to modern Bree! Eldo, are you sure you did it right?

Re: Creative corner split out?
Not surprisingly we had the highest number of new registered users in December 12 and January 13. Hopefully we'll see some new members registering again in a couple of months

Re: Creative corner split out?
Due to a weirdness in the statistics page, it actually only generates percentages based on the combined totals of the top 10 posters. Petty's actual percentage is more like 21%. Which is still a huge portion. Actually though, (aside from Petty) we have a somewhat more equitable distribution of posts here than the Old Forum did. Progress!Ringdrotten wrote:Petty's made 24% and Norc 20% of the total amount of posts

Yeah, there's always a major boost around the film release, and a (much) smaller one for the DVD releases. I'm expecting activity to pick up again by the time the EE hits. Interestingly though, our current Biggest Month Ever (tm) was May of this year. We've been in a quiet spell recently though.Ringdrotten wrote:Not surprisingly we had the highest number of new registered users in December 12 and January 13. Re: Creative corner split out?
I've noticed that myself, glad to see other people are getting used to the change. It's not quite as drastic as the August 2011 change when I deleted three forums, created two new ones, renamed some other stuff, and moved a shitload of threads between the resulting divisions.halfwise wrote:Actually it's already looking normal. Just takes about 3 views and it feels right.
Responded to this on the other page, but as I've mentioned before, the archive is not currently online (Taz told me he'd get it up and running again; this was like a year before he sold the site ).halfwise wrote:Um, just checked the old forum link, and it takes us to modern Bree! Re: Creative corner split out?
I agree. But I like it that CREATIVE CORNER is on the front page now. It is an important forum for us. But keep it as simple as possible, Eldo. I can't agree more with that principle. Alll is well.Eldorion wrote:I haven't discussed it much in public, but a lot of thought has gone into the way the forum is laid out. If you visit other Tolkien forums, especially ones that were started back in the early years of the 2000s when the fandom was huge, many of them have way too many forums and it dilutes the activity of the forum.

Re: Creative corner split out?
You'll notice my number of posts are far fewer than Petty's. Makes my posts more thought provoking and weightier, methinks. I am a hobbit of few words, but Petty does go on a bit.Ringdrotten wrote:4000, actually

If you weren't naturally angsty you wouldn't be you and Forumshire wouldn't be Forumshire.Eldorion wrote:Thanks for the vote of confidence, Orwell.

{{{I did the edit because I thought what I wrote wasn't needed at all. I mean, you've become less timid over time, and I've become more so. I mean, Ive become so self-concious nowadays and never say the outrageous things I once did. Even Ol'Anon has become meeker - he does seek my advice, you know, and I've prevailed on him to tone things down a bit. So, to cut to the quick, it seems we've both grown, Eldo... Err possibly slightly inwards toward each other... Oh Gawd! Do I sound narcissistic or just pompous? Or both? }}}

Re: Creative corner split out?
Yeah -- but Norc's posts usually consist (statistically) of one noun, two to three verbs, an adjective and between one and six profanities! Surely those posts don't count!Ringdrotten wrote:Petty's made 24% and Norc 20% of the total amount of posts

Re: Creative corner split out?
Thanks Orwell. I do feel that I've become more confident with forum stuff and I really appreciate all of your help along the way. In addition to all of your other contributions to the forum, of course.

Re: Creative corner split out?
I explained on the last page why the percentages on that page are off. Try dividing Petty's post total by the forum's overall total (can be seen at the top of that page or bottom of the forum index) and you'll see the difference.Norc wrote:erm.. no, take a look http://www.hobbitmovieforum.com/statistics

Thanks Mrs Figg! It still looks a little strange to me but I do agree that the change has been an improvement.Mrs Figg wrote:well the forum is looking neater now, I like it.
