Hmm...looked at the links. Have to admit it's totally beyond me. I'm decades past the age of comprehension.

The odds of getting your question answered in an AMA is very small (even if you show up right as the thread is posted). There's usually PR people behind the scenes who pick the questions and type out the answers, along with thousands of comments/questions pouring in at a very fast rate.

Sometimes it's nice to see really good questions with really good answers, but most of the time it's stuff like: "What was it like working with so-and-so?" "I don't have a question, but I just wanted to say that I love your work!"

I'm not sure what you're confused about halfwise.  

and with benedict there is no such thing as a short answer

I'm confused by the complete lack of structure in the thing. Far less structured that Forumshire, and that's disorienting.

I guess reddit can be disorienting if you're not used to it.  

It's a little strange because Reddit is basically a forum built on the software foundation of a news aggregator. But it doesn't take long to make sense IMO. Each topic gets its own page and comments on each page are threaded. Specific threads get bumped further up the topic page based on upvotes and (I think) the number of additional posts it gets.
