I don't think you need to; as much power as my luck holds, I'm not sure if it's enough!

How come you're putting Soccer on a Sports Thread? Shouldn't this discussion be on the "Tiddlywinks and other Kiddie Games" Thread? scratch

Well my team got back to wining ways..come on the Gers! cheers And of course its football- soccer isnt even a real word! Evil or Very Mad And the idea of changing it from football because of a game of the same name played seriously in only one country in the world where they use their HANDS, well its ludicrous. Evil or Very Mad

You're not one of those Aussie tug-the-forelock-to-the-Brits apologists are you, Chris? Shocked

What! and are we going to call the only soccr team worth thinking about, the "Footballroos"?

And, hey, are you a Real Aussie btw, or a Pomaussie, or similar? Mad

"Football"- it might make sense, but "Soccer" it is, and must remain. It's un-Australian to think otherwise, if only to maintain a smartarse atitude! Laughing

Change the name from "Socceroos" and I'll cease my interest. I mean it! Mad You can call it "football" if you want - that I can live with. See, I'm open minded. Very Happy

The NFL lockout has ended and the pre-season is underway (the real season starts in a couple of weeks) and my beloved Cowboys are already losing ... again. Crying or Very sad At least they won last week, though either way, the pre-season doesn't mean much since everyone always lets the back-ups play.

Dont mind American football. The only problem i have with it is that they play for 10 seconds then
have 2 minuits of adds. I do like baseball, watch it most mornings here. Hate NY yankees

Yeah, football can get pretty boring. I actually far prefer watching the re-broadcasts that the NFL Network sometimes puts out. They cut out the time-outs, breaks, and some of the extraneous plays where nothing happens until you get 45-60 minutes of actual gameplay with little downtime. I love watching those when they happen to be on and I'm around. Very Happy

As for the Yankees, people in Baltimore like to think that the Orioles have a rivalry with the Yankees, but I suspect that the Yankees probably just look down on the O's for sucking so bad. Rolling Eyes

Things may not be so lonely as you fear Eldo. One of the legacies left by the US navy here was an interest in American Football. I'm a Redskins Fan, my brother is a Dallas fan.
Not to keen on watching live games I have to admit - all the stoping drives me batty but enjoy watching the highlights.

My step-mom is a Redskins fan (she's from the Washington, D.C. area) and we're always giving each other a hard time over it. Razz She actually took me to a Redskins-Cowboys game in Washington last year which was pretty fun, except for the drunken Redskins fans yelling at me because I was wearing a Dallas t-shirt. Laughing At least I wasn't in Philly; I would have been lucky to leave that stadium in anything but an ambulance wearing a Cowboys shirt!

Another one to keep you company if I can find smoe coverage to watch.

As a teenager I used to wacth te regular channel four show that showed highlights from the weeks games (Bears fan), but that stoppes and since then mu interest has slipped a bit. may try find a source for wacthing. Solved the problem of the breaks as it was manly higlights, so no breaks Very Happy

Probably going to be more satisfying than the footie season, my team (Leeds) still trying to pull themselves out of the championship, were they've been for too long, rubbish start to - played four, lost 2, drawn 1 and only won 1 - Arghhhh! Evil or Very Mad

Grim, grim night for Scottish football with both our top teams going out to opposition they should have beaten. My team Rangers were all over their opppnents Maribor but just couldnt do it in front of goal. ended 1-1- on the night but 2-1 to them overall. Celtic fared even worse going down to 10 men and going out 3-1. This will screw the co-efficient for scottish teams- we will be lucky to get two teams into europe next time at all.
This roughly expresses my feelings; #***!!!!!@*!! Banghead Mad Evil or Very Mad Extremely Crabbit drunken drunken drunken drunken
