Re: Doctor Who [5]
DAVID! IT'S SUPER SPOILERY!
btw, petty..
btw, petty..
- Spoiler:
- when is Amy kidnapped? and did River know who she had killed from the very start. i am still a bit confused by the whole "two doctors" thing although it was late and i think i get it.
Re: Doctor Who [5]
Spoilers Norc!
To answer the question-
To answer the question-
- Spoiler:
according to the Doctor- sometime before America- so basically between series 5 and 6 seems to be the answer.
"i am still a bit confused by the whole "two doctors" thing although it was late and i think i get it."- Im not sure what you mean by two Doctors- but I am guessing the confusion comes from the two different ages of the Doctor- the Doctor young River shoots n the beach has been through all of series 5 and 6- thats the Doctor that then visits her in her cell every night and takes her away on adventures. That's the Doctor she tells Rory "he knew everything about me."
The 'other' Doctors she meets is increasingly younger versions of him- thats what she refers to hen she tells Rory -"every time I see him he knows me less and I kow him more."
Does that help?

One of the things I enjoyed most, becuase you dont really notice it as much watching the normal way-
- Spoiler:
is how brilliantly Alex Kingston portrays the different ages of River.
When she gets married she is young- she says things like losing him would hurt her more than the pain of a galaxy- she is a head over heels first love basically.
And the Doctor rightly says she is embarrassing him- a line finally reversed when older mature River tells the Doctor the same over him wasting regen energy to cure her broken wrist.
When you watch it in order from her pov you can see how Alex matured the character- which must have been very difficult doing it all in the wrong order and spread across 3 series.
It gave me a much greater appreciation of her performance.

Re: Doctor Who [5]
Excellent movie, Petty! I agree, it's quite stunning to see. Alex is amazing.
I am sad to say though that I still don't like Amy. It just got too clear when the few minutes of Donna had more feeling and soul than anything Amy does or says. Sorry Petty, she just won't win me over.

Re: Doctor Who [5]
Well at least you liked the River stuff!
(I enjoyed seeing Donna too, more than Tennant to be honest- on which matter any one got thoughts on when it goes to Tennant and the differnces in performance- I find Tennant works well as a younger, brasher version of 11, despite 11 being more eccentric and often more childish- for me there is an underlying depth and maturity to Smiths performance that is lacking in Tennants. The 50th should be interesting to see those two personalities at work)

River was love at first sight! It is a bit weird to see Tennant now, but he sure got sad puppy eyes down to an art!

Re: Doctor Who [5]
Yeah- one thought I wondered about is River says when she was at the Singing Towers that the Doctor cried but wouldnt tell her why- that seems very like how 11 would respond- did Moffat already have an idea of what sort of Doctor 11 would be so long before there was an 11?
Its hard to imagine someone saying the same about Tenants Doctor- he got emotionally, but he rarely cried.

the two doctor issue, i was thinking the first date/last date (when he dresses up in a tux)
Re: Doctor Who [5]
yes, also when it comes to nine you can see the progression in the doctor in how he is played by the different actorsPettytyrant101 wrote:Well at least you liked the River stuff!

Re: Doctor Who [5]
Regards tux Doctor Norc-
- Spoiler:
we dont know exactly where in the Doctors time line that occurs- except its sometime after Amy and Rory are gone- River says she will travel with the Doctor for a while- and the xmas episode introducing Clara- where he is in mourning for Amy/Rory and River- his whole family gone.
My guess is that the singing Towers are the final adventue she has with the Doctor during the period she travels with him after Amy and Rory leave. And the tux Doxctor therefore is post Amy/Rory but before meeting Clara.

Im not sure then what is is that is confusing you.
- Spoiler:
Tux Doctor is going to take River to Derilium, on the way she goes to the wrong Doctor and the tux Doctor comes and gets her, and leaves with her.
Its the same night as young River, on the first night of her sentence in prison, goes on her first date with the Doctor (she is getting changed when future her and future tux Doctor enter) she comes back as tux Doctor leaves and asks why there is two of him.

The link doesn't show, and when I pulled the address from the editor it took me to a black screen. Is there an address problem, or is it blocked at some level?
Edit: It seems to be a youtube problem. It's working for me now, but not all functions.

Re: Doctor Who [5]
Big Finish are to produce a couple of Doctor Who stories in association with former producer Philip Hinchcliffe, the man who led the Doctor Who through one of its most successful and best remembered era’s.
Starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela, the two audio plays will evoke the spirit and feel of the period when Hinchcliffe was in charge of production. Philip Hinchcliffe produced Doctor Who from 1975’s The Ark in Space through to the 1977 story The Talons of Weng-Chiang. He was responsible for a series of stories which regularly top fan polls of favourite titles and which include some of the episodes with the highest ratings in Doctor Who’s history.
The idea for revisiting the era came after Hinchcliffe visited the Big Finish studios to watch the recording of series three of The Fourth Doctor Adventures. Big Finish Producer David Richardson said I know that Tom Baker and Louise Jameson were thrilled to have him there, and they both enthused to him about what a great time they were having working for Big Finish. After the recording ended, Philip took me and executive producer Nicholas Briggs aside, and pitched the idea of doing a set of stories of the kind he would have hoped to have done, had he stayed on to produce the series for longer. We just said ‘yes’ instantly!
The first story in the set will be an epic six-parter set in Victorian London, adapted by Marc Platt, who wrote the TV story Ghost Light, which will be paired with a four-parter.
Hinchcliffe said he wanted to create create stories that feel as if they could belong to his second or third season They are not designed to follow on from my era, more to re-evoke it for fans who enjoyed the originals: and so the Doctor and Leela in these new stories are the same as they were then, in the glorious seventies! That's the beauty of radio - they look and sound the same- Gallifrey Base
