Can anyone run me through how I post pictures, tried one and got confused

I don't know if this forum has its own picture hosting site. I use photobucket- its free and easy to use. If you use it you upload the picture to your album there then copy the imagecode details. Then on the forum when you are posting click on the picture icon and copy the imagecode stuff into it and thats it- thats what I do anyway.

I was thinking about posting a tutorial for this the other day, so here goes.

The long and the short of it is that to post a picture on the Internet it has to be hosted somewhere. There are a number of free services that allow you to host images on them, but I recommend Photobucket. You have to have an account, but fortunately Beren made one for us on the old forum a long time ago. The instructions below should work, but let me know if you have any problems.

1. Go to www.photobucket.com
   
2. Sign in with the username "the-hobbit-movie" and the password "tolkien". Alternatively, use your own account.
   
3. Once redirected to the album page, click the "Album options" link.
   
4. Select "Upload photos and videos" from the drop-down menu that appears.
   
5. Click the green button that says "Select photos and videos".
   
6. Select the photos you want from the pop-up window.
   
7. Click "OK", "Open", or whatever the affirmative button is.
   
8. Click "save and continue to my album".
   
9. Copy the "IMG code" from below the thumbnail of the picture you uploaded.
   
10. Copy the code into your post. If it looks like this...

Code:

Then it gives you this...



And now you know how to post pictures.

Those instructions, reading them again, are out of date! You've copied and pasted them!! I think you will find kafira photobucket is more simplified than those instructions- with big obvious buttons rather than popdown menus.
And although you can just paste the code into your post you can on here imbed it, just click the picture icon and put the code in the box that pops up.

I didn't copy and paste them at all, I just made them today. I know there are other ways to do it, but that's just how I always have. I guess I'm a creature of habit.

Anyway, to follow Petty's alternative method, follow the instructions up to step 9, but then copy the "Direct link" instead of "IMG code". Or you can click the button with a picture and a floppy disc above the post box and upload the image directly to our site here.

Ok I will let this one slide on account of all the splendid work you're put in. But the Tyrant is always watching for things to be crabbit about! (I need a crabbit emoticon, the angry devil thing doesn't cover it)

The approval of the Crabbit One is most certainly an honor.

You know there is actually a host button on the forum ribbon, next to the insert image button, but it's with servimg! But it could be a lot quicker, especially as you don't have to leave the forum! Here's an image I just uploaded:

I keep getting these e-mails from forumshire, but I haven't ticked of any "yes I want an e-mail whenever something happens" box. help?

Go to Profile and the tab that says " topics being watched " and remove what might be listed there, also check "preferences" where there is various e-mail notifications and such to turn on and off.
