Slowly! Anything to do with rendering happens slowly unless you have a render farm, which I don't. Takes 24 hours just to knock out a few seconds of low quality animation.
Each of the test pics I've put up so far, at that quality, took between 40minutes- to 1 1/2 hours just for one pic and I need a minimum of 24 per second for smooth animation.

sounds exhausting. But keep up the good work and I'll send you an internet cup of coffie or buckie, but I doubt that that will increase your work pace

This is the point to make changes- I cant change the model but I can change the textures, so different brick work, differnet coloured wood, roof.
Also I have put on a sign but it is blank currently- what is your shop called?
And what is you shop sign?

We need designs for Mrs Figgs shop Forumshires. Should it have eels in some fashion? Should be for ladies unmentionables?
So get doodling, use paint or whatever and do a simple design and upload it. And when Mrs Figg likes her sign hopefully Norc will have an artistic splurge and draw us it up and I can put onto the models shop sign.

yes Dave I agree, we need a 'tradesmens entrance'. I prefer green to red for the wood Petty, it looks like a bawdy house, and that would never do!

I've finished, for the moment, creating the heightfield map of Forumshire (fancy way of saying I've built the land)

Here it is with where I plan to put things. I'm toying with using that bit of land on the left for the Forumshire Int Eagle Airport.
Fjordianland will be off to the north of the map, Scotsdale to the west, and OZ to the south and UShobbitstan will be to the east.

Wow, nice map! Not that I'm going to become a mighty Cartographer or anything, but how did you make the map? Would seem quite difficult to do in photoshop I guess

I used a prog called L2Dt to create the land in- it lets you sculpt your own, then it converts that into a heightfield- I can output from that as a ter. file which means I can put it straight into my render program, terragen 2.
Then I just added the water in and some clouds and rendered it out viewed from directly above to get the pic and popped briefly into GIMP to add the placenames.
Everything I do for animation from now on will be built directly onto this heightfield now.

I just added the plants and stuff to the heightfield map above. The fnished animation wont be anything like this quality (otherwise take me about 3 hours a frame to render).
