"The hobbit with white council/necromancer stuff chucked in is going to make no sense (no overall story arc)."- Kafria Thats my biggest worry Kafria, it will need to have a story arc to work as a film, but there isn't one for all that in TH,and that means they are going to make one up. Somehow they are going to tie the two strands together into one plot. Something terrible like having Smaug working for the Necromancer, and I am pretty certain that somehow the success of Bilbo's quest will be tied up with the success of the WC, with one depending upon the other. As they did with LotR they are making the job hard for themselves and creating all sorts of scripting problems and we know how that turned out! Assuming the films total 4-5 hours long we will be lucky at this rate to get an hour of genuine Hobbit story, and ones wonders if even any of that will remain unmucked about with? I doubt it.

Kafria - I've had similar sentiments to that. It is rather discouraging to me, because prequels tend to be weaker than the original, especially when they try to shoehorn in as many of the old characters as possible. The Hobbit, the book, isn't a prequel, and the story stands on its own, but I'm afraid the movies don't seem to be shaping up to be like that. I can't say I was ever enthused by the idea of the bridge movie either, for much the same reason. I'd prefer a single Hobbit film - I like when franchises know when enough is enough and don't keep trying to milk it.

Now I'm intrigued, it says that Geordie will be pulling a cart, when will Itaril pull a cart in her pursuit of love? :?

Maybe the Coven plan to have Donkey from Shrek in it as the goats love interest. He can be one of Beorn's wisecracking servants and Itaril an elven goat, never having seen fields of grass and yearning for goaty freedom from Thranduils Halls (Bilbo can put her in a barrel with Donkey). A beautiful love story, with slapstick, pretty sure thats their plan anyway. Much better than some silly story about a hobbit and some grumpy dewarves.

Perhaps the idea now is 'rabbits' as love interest' Petty?

Where did you find this old thread Orwell?!
Actually the amazing thing is we know very little more about the character now than we did when this thread started.

Re: Thoughts on the new character, Itaril
well, we know that the Itaril character with the love interest for an elvish prince (legolas??) has been made into a kick-ass female Tauriel (with a very bad name, Itaril was much better, seemed sweeter and more innocent) with a love interest for Kili (?).
Re: Thoughts on the new character, Itaril
So we know its even worse than we thought you mean Norc?

Re: Thoughts on the new character, Itaril
yes. although love interest with Legolas is quite far fetched too... but it was at least another elf.
Re: Thoughts on the new character, Itaril
it would have been fun though, if she was a lego-fangirl and acted a bit foolish like our dear Molly Hooper. Totally in love and totally ignored.
Re: Thoughts on the new character, Itaril
Can't see PJ doing a character requiring that level of subtly Norc, can you?

Was that a random declaration of love Ally? Or did you just sneeze and I miss heard?

This post almost makes the Itaril/Tauriel character worth having around, just for that pun.
Re: Thoughts on the new character, Itaril
Norc wrote:maybe Itaril was to fall in love with Fingolfin?
I think Ally was referring to our member called Fingolfin, who started this thread on the Old Forum but who hasn't been around for years. {{{ Don't let Orwell see that post! }}}
