The Big Bad Serious ... Forum?

I know we all love the BBST, but sometimes when there are lots of different discussions going on in there at once it becomes hard to follow or participate in one, and sometimes topics fall by the wayside after being buried by a flood of posts on some other topic. I don't want to stifle anyone, but I thought it might make more sense to have a sub-forum within Ideas and Suggestions devoted to "big bad serious" topics rather than trying to force everything into a single thread. On the old forum, the original BBST was set up to keep topics like this to one place, which I think is a good idea, but since we have the freedom to change the forum structure I thought I'd at least suggest doing so.

Much as I hate to agree with anything the Archet Bugle says I am not sure what you mean. The BBST is dear to my buckied heart, are you proposing disbanding it, enlarging it or giving its own forum?

I'm not proposing deleting the BBST we all know and love, just moving it into a new sub-forum. Whether or not we'd lock the original thread or let it run concurrently with other "serious topic" threads is up to you guys, really. It's not that I want to get rid of the BBST, I just think that it's easier to discuss a variety of topics if each one gets its own thread, because then they aren't all competing for the limited number of post spaces available on the last page of the thread.

Got you now. My only problem with that is sometimes a topic comes up, worth a mention and worth a couple of replies before moving on that would not warrant a thread all to themselves and it would be a shame to reduce the things people might want to say because they dont feel its worth making a thread over. If you follow me.

That's a good point. Perhaps it could be solved by leaving the main BBST thread opening and allowing people to post new topics either there or in new threads, and splitting off any sufficiently long/fruitful tangents into their own threads as necessary.

That sounds like a plan!- I suppose I can monitor it and if I feel something is worth its own space make a new thread for it. (Just to save you the extra workload).

Sounds good! I know that the BBST is your baby, so it seems fitting for you to be the mod to look after it. I'll see about setting up the new subforum if no one else has any objections or comments by then.
