Re: Tolkien and Wales
Tolkien definitely enjoyed the Welsh language, and largely based Sindarin on that language, but I'm not entirely sure what the blurb means when it says "Tolkien's love of Wales and Welsh is inseparable from his love of, and sense of belonging to, England". I can't help but wonder if the blurb was written by some American who doesn't know that England and Wales are distinct parts of the UK.

Tolkien would not be surprised with that American blurb. All sorts of silly things in regard to him and his works were (and are) "kindled" there.

Tolkien and Whales,
Tolkien and Whales,
Hobbits and Goblins,
Boggarts and snails!
What's this? What's that?
What's this? What's that?
Channeling gone mad?
Or a Cat in a Hat?
Hey what? Hey what?
Hey what? Hey what?
This is all I have,
This is all I've got.
T.S. Elliot. Discarded excerpt from his "Cats" folio.

Re: Tolkien and Wales
God bless you Eldorion.
For myself, I can sneeze in French. I should try one in Welsh though.
