I see it's available on Amazon video for $4. Based on your detailed review it may be worth it.

It's a 70 year old movie. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for it.

Took a good deal of poking around, but I seem to have found it for free here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEgpkHWECKs
Thanks for the prompting. Though it's on youtube, you don't find the free version by searching on youtube.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
I see Francis Ford Coppola's very long awaited return to the Big Screen 'Megalopolis' is getting slaughtered by the critics:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalopolis_(film)
I had the hoped the likely last film by the Director of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now would be worth seeing, but it seems not, a self funded confused vanity project and a seemingily boring one at that.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
Watched 'Leave the World Behind' at the weekend. Was actually ok... I was invested in getting to the end which is a good sign.
- Spoiler:
Seen lots of complaints from people saying 'but what was going on... we never found out' which i think was the point of the film. The perspective of the average person is that you don't and probably never will.

This should work fine for you. At least for now. These sites do get swatted now and then. Oh and you might need a pop-up blocker (or just use Brave browser idk).halfwise wrote:Well dammit, that was just the opening credits. Let me keep poking around.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
I get a bogus warning that the site is unsafe and my computer needs to be scanned immediately (click here). But I had already gone ahead and plunked down $4 to see it. Didn't review it because I thought you had covered it adequately.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
I can say what films I saw lately that were crap !
Kenneth bloody Branagh's "A haunting in Venice", amateur shat, Oh God it was awful. And, "Death on The Nile", which was cringingly awful. I tolerated "Murder on The Orient Express", which I will never watch again but these 2 ? I hope Branagh used his own money to make these films because if I had ploughed my own into them Id have Branagh declared insane. To all that is holy please dont make anymore ! He has no understanding of a sinister build up, He throws everything in the same basket but none of it makes any sense. There is no journey of him scrutinising and deducting, There is no edginess, Hes also made Hercule Poirot too human, too emotional, too willing to shed a tear when actually Poirot is more machine than man. He cannot allow feelings to unfocus his mind or he will never continue to be the greatest detective that has ever been. The films in my view cannot be saved by engaging top film stars. in fact its over kill and its boring. Its too polished, not rough enough. The stories were weak and dragged out by using well known actors in the hope it comes across as.... exciting.... ? Nothing in any of these 3 films made me scratch my head (or anything else about my person) trying to suss out who did it and why. A Chinese take away menu gives me more thrills. so, off to the charity shop goes those over priced pile of dross, and when I say over priced they are only worth 50p in the first place, not the couple of quid I paid on Ebay

It's a shame, because Branaugh in his youthful ventures was a true star both as actor and director. To me he began to fall apart with the porcelain yet dreary Hamlet. The only thing he's done right since is Thor.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
Frankenstein with De Niro wasnt bad ? He was in Valkyrie, Hes done lots of voice overs and so much tv work that you think he would have picked up some good points and habits ? I loathed how he did the Swedish tv detective series "Wallander". I thought he ruined that completely. Krister Henriksson was Kurt Wallander for me. Branagh was too fecking miserable for one.

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
All of his Poirot adaptations have been particularly vile for some reason. The may has lost his touch in his old age, it would seem. A common theme in our favorite directors of yesteryear!azriel wrote:I can say what films I saw lately that were crap !

Re: Seen any good films lately? [3]
They become infected by Hollywood. The glory days ran from the 70s through the 90s when directors could shake themselves free, but I suspect SX has become so much a thing and expensive that directors have fallen back under the corporate thumb, and it extends even to non SX films.
