Forumshire: The Game Empty Forumshire: The Game

Post by Pettytyrant101 Sun Dec 13, 2020 6:39 pm

{{ This is my, early, work in progress on using Unreal Engine to create a Forumshire game.
Plot wise it will focus on Petty (who you play as) in his attempts to find all the Queens buckie, which has ben stolen by a mytery person, before she returns from her golfing trip and takes his head and uses it for a golf ball.

What I am showing here is just the intro level, before you get to Forumshire and Needlehole proper. Its purpose is just to aclimatise the player with the controls and the basic game mechanics.

For those who are interested Ive also included a sort of making of, whcih shows in pctures how the level was progressed to what you see.

Dont expect a playable game until well into next year at best, but slowly but surely it is coming together.

Building a level in pictures.

Spoiler:

The current state of the level (you can ignore the player character, its just a defualt set up, and ignore the tech stuff on screen. If you click on an image you can better a better version.)

Spoiler:

And lastly a short vid.

Spoiler:

Keep an eye out for more to come! }}

I didn't know we had mountains in Forumshire! Shocked (or even thunderstorms).

I didn't know Petty looked like a storm trooper.

But it's sure to be interesting. How do you get the server space to let us go interactive? I think that comes into money.

{{ We have Fjordianland and Scotshobbitland, of course there are mountains! But as I mentioned this is just the intro level, on route to Forumshire, its looks more English countryside, more Shirelike once you get to Forumshire and Needlehole proper, or will do eventually!
And yeah, the stormtrooper is just the default, the final game will probably be first person view (means I dont have to make a model for Petty) but other characters, such as your good self Halfy, will be modelled and animated in Blender eventually- but thats way down the line, right now Im just making the game world.
It wont require any server space, it will be single player, so you will just download the game, install and run it and play. }}

except for the man-cages around 0.31 and 0.50 it's beginning to look like forumshire! But could switch to bows, or fly-swatters, or something more idiomatic than that blaster?

Are you gonna add trolls and wargs?

{{ Those arent cages, they're hanging lamps! Mad The figure is just the default Unreal Engine one that comes out the box, complete with blaster- you wont have that in the game. You'll have a stick, once you find it, which doubles as weapon and lever for stuff. Character design comes way at the end of desigining everything else, got to make levels first, then put in all the game mechanics, the enemies and their AI ect. So get used to seeing unreal guy for a while! Nod }}
