Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
As you probably know by now, the posts from the original forum that had been lost have been returned to us by Taz, webmaster of Planet-Tolkien and (since the DP incident) of The-Hobbit-Movie.com. Furthermore, he has offered to host the old posts on his website for us. Therefore, if you want to look at the 17,536 posts we made on the old forum between it's creation on 10 December 2008 and its last backup on 8 February 2011, simply follow the link at the bottom of this post and enjoy.
Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
EDIT: Even though the archive is down, you can still see more than a thousand posts from the old forum that were manually copied and pasted here when we were starting back up.

Re: Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
Eldo, it links to modern Bree! We're stuck in an infinite loop of self referential modernity! Help!

Re: Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
"Modern Bree" is located at the same URL that the Old Forum was. The link here should go to the-hobbit-movie.com/oldforum, though. Taz set up that page for us to host the archive, but it's been down for some time. Like I said in the other thread, I'll look into getting a replacement up sometime soon.
Re: Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
There's nothing there except the link to the parent directory, which of course is modern Bree. I guess somebody didn't see enough activity and froze it out.

Re: Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
The archive forum went offline ages ago. Taz said he'd fix it (since he was hosting the archive for us) but never did and eventually sold the site. Since it was a big favor in the first place, I didn't press the issue. Instead I made a thread about it to gauge people's interest in creating a new archive, but there didn't seem to be much, so I never followed up until now.

Re: Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
Oh, I see we got sidetracked on that thread by a discussion of Figgy's miraculous bum. but wasn't I just looking at OldForum stuff just a few weeks ago? Could have sworn I did, in dark planet colors and stuff.

Re: Hobbit Movie Archive Forum
You're probably thinking of archive.org. I posted some links to their records of the old forum recently. That's a completely separate thing: they archive all sorts of webpages on their own via bots which record snapshots of how a page looked at a certain point in time. They have extensive but unfortunately incomplete records of the old forum. Most of them are in Dark Planet colors because the old forum was using a similar color scheme for its last eight months or so of existence.
The archive forum that existed at THM.com was different. Taz uploaded all the base data from the old forum, which included every post made there. People with accounts on the old forum could even sign in and read their private messages. Basically, Taz just made a new forum that included all of the messages from the old one. It did not use the same color scheme as the old forum, though, because (I assume) Taz didn't have access to the forum skin (the visual design and images on the forum).
He sent me the data as a ZIP file though, and I forwarded it to several other members of the forum as a failsafe, so we can recreate the archive forum if we get access to some FTP space. I got a lead for some a few years ago when the issue of the archive forum first came up and will check to see if the offer is still open. I do think it would be neat to have the archive back, but it'd be a bit of effort and it wasn't until the past few days that anyone seemed especially interested in it.
