{{I fainted once- I had just been hit over the head with a large stick (takes a lot to make a Scotshobbit faint!)- was very odd, I went unconscious on the blow, and came back to half way to the ground in what, from my pov, was slow motion. I have the most vivid recollection of landing partly on a tarpaulin sheet (it was blue) and watching water droplets bounce up from it and falling back down in utter perfect detailed slow motion. }}}

"som lyn fra klar himmel" i've never fainter, knock on wood.. ("knock on wood" has a norwegian saying too "bank i bordet", but it translates to knock on the table, but the word "bord"(table) also means like a plank for construction so it is not that much of a deviation, only modern youth never talk about planks/wood as "bord" only old people)
Re: Star Wars [3]
Tusen takk, so it's kind of like how in English "board", in an older sense, means a table upon which you eat food, in the sense of "Room & Board" at places like a boarding house. It's only really in situations where the question of paying for a person's food is concerned that "board" is used in that way, now-a-days.
But on the other hand board definitely means a length of dimensional lumber.
What do you call a "board" then, in Norwegian? Something like "plank"?

Having recently rewatched (bits of) it, I'd say Rogue One is my favourite of the three Disney movies so far.

Not me, I like Rey and Kylo more than... erm... Rebel? What was her name? Jyn Erso.
They make the other movies more enjoyable for me.

Re: Star Wars [3]
I found that interesting. I may not rave about Star Wars but, I'm that fond of the films & have watched them all. I thought Hans was one of these guys you meet in life, ducking & diving, a bit of a 'lad', just scraping by on the seat of his pants. A non conformist. Has his own ideas & sticks to them. See's things for what they are & has a moral core. Inside he's a good guy, not really seeking fame & the limelight, a bit of fortune is nice but, I think freedom is his calling. I don't think I want them to turn him into some Demi God who thinks the sun shines out of his arse. Just be that likable cheeky chap

Yep, that's it Az. From the line "I'm going to be a pilot, the best in the galaxy" it was clear they have him all wrong. His only ambition is to get rich and have fun, NOT be the richest and have the most fun. Makes me not want to even go see the damn thing. But if I could drag myself to see The Hobbit I guess I'll drag myself to see this.

Re: Star Wars [3]
That line caught my ear also Halfy, about being the best in the Galaxy. He couldn't be, Luke was meant to be that not Solo. & I think Solo knew that & was happy to be 2nd guy, as long as he got the girl ( for 5mins ) & a bit of interplanetary money in his pocket & a decent ship to fly, all was good

‘Game of Thrones’ Creators to Write, Produce New ‘Star Wars’ Series of Films - Variety
On the plus side, this might mean that their alternate history HBO series Confederate won't happen.
“Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are going to write and produce a new series of “Star Wars” films, Disney announced on Tuesday.
The new series will be separate from the main episodic Skywalker saga that started with “Star Wars: A New Hope” and is slated to wrap up with 2019’s “Star Wars: Episode IX.” It will also exist independently from a Rian Johnson-helmed series that was announced last year.
“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, in a statement. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
...
Disney did not give a timeline for when these new Benioff and Weiss-penned films will hit theaters. On an earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the two men had approached the studio with an idea a while ago. Even though the duo made their name in television, Iger said they were not interested in doing something on the small screen.

Re: Star Wars [3]
I was equally upset that Rian Johnson is named as continuing a series. His stuff is too fan-ficish for me.
Disney seems to be taking the direction of hiring big-name directors and writers for Star Wars. To me an essential element of Star Wars was that you never saw the distinctive hand of known directors/writers except of course for Lucas. At this rate they'll have Aaron Sorkin write an episode, and Quentin Tarantino write/direct an episode, which will lead to Robert Rodriquez writing/directing, then Nora Ephron.....

More like good grief!
Halfwise, I had written up a well thought-out response to your thoughts, and then I hit the "quote" button by accident.
So I'll summarize:
Disney has consistently hired new up-and-comers for the recent Star Wars who have very little experience directing but did have one big indie hit in the past several years. D. B. Weiss and Daniel Benioff fit this profile only insofar as they have directed almost nothing, and haven't actually worked on many screen-plays either. Neither of them had any hit indie movies in the past, I mean to say.
Abrams and Howard are big names, of course. Howard has dozens of feature film roles and has been working in the industry for like 6 decades and a bit. But apart from an overabundance of lens flairs, I don't think of Abrams, or Howard for that matter, as auteurs who will impact the flavour of Star Wars with their overbearing directorial presence. Howard was brought in, I imagine, because he's a solid director that Disney trusted to take over the project and shape it to their whims. He was not brought on because his style is so strong and memorable.
If anything, you should look to the younger up-and-coming writer-directors to shake up and alter Star Wars with their distinctive style: Rian Johnson in particular. Granted, Abrams has replaced Trevorrow for episode 9, but if anything this simply means that Disney wants to play it safe and appease the fans who complain of too much change.
"To me an essential element of Star Wars was that you never saw the distinctive hand of known directors/writers except of course for Lucas."
I don't know if that's backed up by the movies themselves. I mean Lucas directed and wrote the first film in the trilogy, but only had half-credit for the screenplay for episode 6, 5's screenplay having been written by Kasdan and whats-his-name. Perhaps the directors of episodes 5 and 6 had a distinct influence on their respective films that is commonly mis-attributed to Lucas?
"I was equally upset that Rian Johnson is named as continuing a series. His stuff is too fan-ficish for me." [emphasis mine]
I see that you misunderstand the extent to which I am annoyed by this entrance of D&D into yet another major premise, if you think that it is only a slight objection to D&D's fan-fictionish writing qualities that I object to. Perhaps more emotes will convey the intensity of my dislike.

It's still up on IMDB. I mean, no reason they can't work on both considering that the Star Wars movies wouldn't be coming out for... several years.
