Re: Donations (domain name)
Or to clarify even further, we've always been hobbitmovie.forumotion.com, but we used to be wearing an alias that made us look like hobbitmovieforum.com (like wearing calvin klein jeans and a calvin klein polo shirt). We've been going naked and exposed for the last week, but we're getting new clothes that says forumshire.com.

Huh... Why are we http and not https? We've paid for it. Is this a good sign or a bad sign?

Re: Donations (domain name)
This is Eldy. The order for forumshire.com has been officially submitted, and will become live within five business days (probably / hopefully rather less than that). [EDIT: Less than four hours, as it turns out.] When it's done, I'll create an announcement thread and send out the aforementioned newsletter.
I had to turn off the HTTPS option since we're getting a new domain. Once that's been processed, I'll turn it back on and we should get a new SSL certificate.

And with that, Eldy has not only delivered you all, but also the new domain into my hands. Who of us has more reason to worry, I wonder?
Not Eldy. Freeeee as a bird.

Re: Donations (domain name)
Can you tell me what specific warning you're getting?
Unfortunately, Forumotion did not automatically give us a new SSL certificate after turning the option off and back on, so I'm badgering the help forum people again to see if we can get a new one ahead of schedule. Worst case scenario, we go without HTTPS until August 10, which I obviously do not want to do, but is preferable to making people click through ominously-worded error messages for the next seven weeks.
(EDIT: Got a quick reply; the same helpful admin is contacting the behind-the-scenes people again, so this will hopefully be resolved by tomorrow at some point during French business hours.)
I only turned SSL back on for a few minutes, so people shouldn't be getting invalid certificate errors outside of that brief window, but I don't know if Bitdefender gets antsy about visiting sites without HTTPS in general.

Re: Donations (domain name)
Thank you. The "unencrypted connection" warning should go away once we reactivate HTTPS, but as noted above that will have to wait (hopefully no longer than a day) so as to avoid triggering the "unmatching security certificate" warning again.

Okay, once one of you figures out the citation thingy, please explain. It doesn't do anything when I push it.

You click on the citation buttons, then click the 'post reply' button.
I of course knew this all along and did not just discover it by clicking and trying stuff.

Oh, you mean down at the bottom. I never use that. But I only got one citation. Wait, maybe I have to click a few?

Ah, so THAT's how you do it. I never use that "post reply" button, I just start typing in the quick reply box. Forgot the damn thing even exists.

like/dislike buttons are the source of all creeping evil in the modern world. I'm surprised you had any positive feelings for them.
A crabbit button, however, would be something new. Show frickin' Facebook what's what.
