I would have thought Thranduil would have said something much more wise & in depth than "because it is real", wot !! ?? How could he even know ? Unless they sent telepathic porno thoughts to each other ( & poor old Leggy looking on none the wiser ) If she was meant to be the focus female in this tripe'ology than she failed beautifully ! Arwen had some dignity at least, she didnt fall to bits & cry on the floor under her David Cassidy poster. ......Ive just had my breakfast as well, what a load of crap this is !

I don't think "Because it was real." was all that bad a moment in itself. It's one of hte more decent pieces of writng in he rushed round up at the end. It's just that it was completely lacking in context, as Azriel points out above. They didn't have any great romance, we were just told they did. Retconning and telling us there was more to the story than was actually there never really works as well as telling the story properly in the first place.

They had more than 5 minutes together - remember that she stuck by him in Lake Town. What makes it fall flat is her reactions and confusion are more like a 14 year old girl than an elf warrior. The writing might work better for the audience for which it is intended.

first off I didn't mind the concept of Feast of Starlight, but the down the trousers joke ruined what could have been a nice moment. Nice. But not special. I wouldnt have minded another odd friendship between the two of them, not a romance, that went way too far. I know she was a rustic forest Elf in comparison to the High Elves, but still, flipping heck. It didn't mean anything nothing flagged up why she would have fallen for him apart from him being Aiden Turner.

If BOFA had somehow included "What is Love", I would have been prepared to forgive it for quite a lot of missteps.  I unironically love that song a ton.
