Re: Music stuff
Ah, ok. Yeah, I did a little of it a good while ago too. But I'm not sure I remember anything either. Cubase is very straight forward and simple, but I guess I should upgrade at some point.

Re: Music stuff
I am sure the version of Cubase you have is fine. The quality of your recording is quite good for a home studio. You are only going to get better through better equipment such as your computer and other hardware until you start going in to various plug ins etc.
While your recording isn't really my type of music, I liked the quality of the sound and thought it connected with the style of your music well. You caught the guitar nicely (I assume you used a mic for that rather than plugging it in if electro-acoustic?) and the vocals worked well.

Re: Music stuff
Thanks. Yeah, the condensator mic, through the external audio card. Same with the vocals (obviously).
Yeah, I guess you can do most things pretty well with what I got. Plug ins and such just give me a headache at the moment, but I guess it's something I've got to get into. I started playing around with reverb, some eq'ing and such, but it's an ongoing process to say the least.

Re: Music stuff
Well, the only thing I can remember to do is how to create that 'telephone' sound! Can be quite effective in certain situations!
I am going to spend the weekend trying to remake my travel videos in to a single video and then I might try and record some stuff. Guitar only though... I don't have a decent voice so won't be singing anything!!

Well, that's what the thread is for.

Re: Music stuff
It didn't really fit the thread..
But I thought I'd share this quote, as to me it seems pretty descriptive of any musician ever.

“Not that he tells me anything. Wait. Be patient. Keep silent. Make accommodation with fate, whatever that means. He says that every time I try to ask a question. For the most part, all he wants to do is play music I’ve never heard and make love.”

Re: Music stuff
I would post my demo, but it's.. pretty bad. Ah, well. Perhaps that'll make me get my act together and record a proper version.

Re: Music stuff
Impressive work, BB. That first one, "Think of All the Places" could maybe use a few more lyrics but I'm guessing it's still a demo. Good stuff, in any case.

Mm. Not since what you posted on the last page, I think. Although Lance said he would try to get around to posting something in not too long, and I might post some more.. maybe.. eventually..

Ah, thank you.Yeah, although it was kind of intentional, I might have to have another look at those lyrics if I'm going to use it for anything more serious. Either way, glad you liked them.
Yeah, just seems to me like it would sound better that way. Thanks! Same hereOh, and nice to see you again, of course.

Re: Music stuff
I don't have much of a voice these days, (perhaps the cold could be thought of as an effect?
) but I wanted to record something. (Specifically this new song, it turns out.) And i thought, why not share it here. As it's been far too long since this thread saw any activity.

Here's me tooting around on the bamboo flute. I have hardly any experience with wind instruments, so it's a bit of a challenge.

Re: Music stuff
Nice choice of Renaissance tune.
As a long time player of Renaissance wind instruments, it sounds like you have a recorder mouthpiece rather than a flute type of mouthpiece. This means you can use recorder tonging. Softer attacks: 't' and even 'r' instead of 'd'.
Start your melody sort of going 'Ti, ti-ri-ti, ti-ti-ri ti-ri ti' and see how it comes out. Of course it's not exactly those sounds, but the thought will get you closer to the almost conversational approach you want.
Edit: if I'm hearing wrong and you have a transverse flute type of instrument, then I have no idea how they do articulation. The main with with transverse flutes is to practice looking cute and dizzy, because that's how you feel after blowing on one of them things. No back pressure at all.

An excellent start Bungo - interesting instrument to pick, why a bamboo flute?
