None of the parties seem to believe the bbc's exit poll either. I guess their internal research didn't predict this either. Still ... seems like a given that the Conservatives will be the largest party and that 48 is the baseline for the SNP.

Second result in another comfortable Labour win, Sunderland Central so another Labour safe seat- again though the real story was the increase in the vote for UKIP, who came third this time. As I predicted they are seeing a large upturn in their share of the vote so far, but its not translating into seats.

For all the criticism The Sun got for its contradictory endorsements north and south of the border, they might be able to legitimately claim to have been wot won it twice tonight. Razz

I am sure the Sun will claim to have done so regardless. Razz

3rd of the Sunderland results in- Labour win again- same story on vote share- total collapse for Lib Dems and a big upswing for UKIP.

Finally some more seats declare!  cheers

Labour 6 - 2 Conservative, but obviously you can't draw any conclusions from just eight seats.

Yeah its always a slow start- should be a flurry of results coming in the next hour however which will give a clearer picture of if the exit poll is accurate or not.
Still so far very bad night for lib dems- hey are getting wiped out- when the Tories gain it seems to be at Lib Dem expense, when Labour gain its at Lib-dem expense. Either way they are screwed by the looks of it.

Rumours swirling that Jim Murphy, Leader of the Scottish Labour Party will lose his seat.
Looks like they might have a leadership contest on their hands after this, although it shouldn't take long if polls are right as there wont be many candidates left to choose from.

First big scalp of the night. Danny Alexander is gone- goodbye Chief Secretary to the Treasury and Labour Campaign Manager- as the SNP take Paisley. Massive 34% swing to the SNP.
